What grip material do you prefer for a longbow, leather, rubber shur-grip or no grip material at all?????
Currently none, but on my old longbow I ditched the leather and installed a Shur Grip I got from 3Rivers. Tight, non-slip and very sure in the hand. Rolls on or off pretty easily and it's cheap. I liked it.
Ive tried all 3 and it kind of depends on the bow grip. If the grip is beefy enough and the woods are nice then I like no grip but if its a little to slim I would rather have leather over the shur grip but I still like a shur grip ok .

I like the leather wrap with adhesive backing 3Rivers sell. It's great for well grippin ...
Leather, beaver balls-"the look" :)
brittman-
I just tried what you did. I had a grip that was too small around the top of the grip and I put the shur grip on with the elk leather over and baseball stiched it. It built up the grip just fine.

Posi grip feels great but it stinks for a while like a brand new rubber tire.
I prefer a leather grip on my longbows, don't care for rubber grips.Just a personal preference for me.
I used to like the sure grip, then I tried the leather tape that 3R sells and really liked that for a while. Then I went to nothing at all and have stayed that way. I just don't like grips anymore. I hate to cover up pretty wood anyway. :saywhat:
I've got a moose hide wrap on my Hill bow, and bare wood on a longbow I built. I prefer the leather one.
Ooohhh, i should probably keep this one to myself, but here goes:
Hockey tape.
Rugged, easy grip build up, easy to add locator if wanted, great grip in all weather.
No, not pretty, but neither am i...
Wouldn't any flex in the grip material introduce a variable into bow to hand contact?
I have always liked a leather grip.. the beaver tail on my PLV is the best grip I have to date...
i love leather .its just natural in my hand.
Leather for me.
