I've been following all the Centaur threads and for some time now I've been trying to get my hands on one so that I could see for myself what all the fuss was about. I recently acquired a new to me Chimera thanks to a fellow TG'er and while I'm no authority on trad bows I do know whats important to me in a bow and I've got to tell you that I'M A BELIEVER!!!! Light in the hand, grip fits like a glove, stable, very fast (as fast as a bow thats 4 lbs heavier) quiet and extremely accurate. It may just be my Holy Grail. Here's a few pics 58" 51#@28"

Fred,
That sure is a beauty! Congrats!
Aaah, and another one has caught the Centaur Express! :D Congrats on a fine bow, may she bring you many hours of shooting enjoyment. :clapper:
Beauty!!!
There's a reason why I have a bunch of spots on Jims list and now you know why. I've got a few Centaurs and I'll be getting a few more. I can tell you that you'll never find a bow that is more arrow spine forgiving. The Centaur is the only bow I've ever been able to bareshaft a broadhead where I could probally hunt without fletching. I keep a bare shaft arrow in my quiver at 3d shoots and when anyone ask me what it's for I shoot it at about 30 yards and they don't believe how it flys.
I have a Centaur as well. Just a fantastic bow.
I am on the list for another. Mine is 52# at 28". Arrows scream out of it and amazingly goes where I am looking. (I am a Crappy Shooter).
My next one will be a beast 80# at 28" (52# is a little lite fo me, now)
Here is my current 58" 52# at 28" Carbon Elite

Oh man, you really know how to dress them up Fred. Love the quiver. I'm going to pick one up at Comptons hopefully. Glad you love it brother congrats.
They are shooters for sure!
That poor bow has been a wandering soul since it was born earlier this year.I know of at least 5 folks that have had it in thier hands in the last 4 months or so.Me being in there somewhere :D

Hopefully its found a permanent home now!
Great looking bow Fred.
If I were going to shoot a 1pc, or 2pc longbow, it would be a Centaur.
You have good taste in bows my friend.
Congrats
Someday maybe one will find me, beautiful bow !!!
Thanks guys.
Swampdrummer you can put your mind at ease, it isn't going anywhere!!
Fred, you have my "wish list" bow. Too bad it's made backwards!!

1/4 way,
I'm glad you found one! I have been looking for a lefthanded take-down for a long time. Any lefty's owners want to sell?
Rob
Fred,
Very nice indeed...what is your draw length?
Like that bow a lot!
Josh
Thanks Josh, I'm drawing it 28" Fred
These bows are truly amazing! ;)
I found one on here a few months ago and wanted to see what the fuss was about. It did not take long for me to become convinced.
Then along comes the previous owner with a big tear in his eye, and I give in. He was sorry he ever got rid of it.
Now I have to order one or find another. :banghead:
beautiful bow....some day i'll have one, some day
Looks good on ya Fred!
Fred,
I'm with Reggie, love the lines and that timber!
Just sent in my deposit and placed my order for one yesterday.
I love mine too much.
I am having a special pillow made for my Centaur to sleep on.
I just ordered one a couple of weeks ago that will have copperhead skins on the limbs.
Let the wait begin. :banghead:
You doubted us?
You doubted ME???? :saywhat:

Oh my goodness Killie, that is a beauty.
Yes Killie knows how to order a good looking bow!!
I certainly do...
Order it from the right bowyer, and tell him to throw it together with scraps and such that he wants to get out of the shop.
:bigsmyl:
Killie, a thousand pardons :notworthy:
Thats a beauty fer sure!!
Congrats on the new bow Fred! She is a beaut. They are the "Holy Grail" of bows in my opinion.
Mike
I am still pretty partial to these Centuar cousins....Fred, as far as longbows go, probably no need to keep looking for the right one. Maybe just get another or two to compliment the one you have... Congrats !!

Lanier, Love the stippling on your bows. I may just have to get on Jim's list for another!!
I caught the bug for one a while back. They are great bows. Love the way they feel in your hand.
I've got a Selway Lil Magnum, the father of the centaur, and it's a rocket launcher in it's own right.
BS
Man that is nice! :bigsmyl:
Froggy,
Beautiful bow. What grip is that? I am on the list and trying to decide which grip to get.
Thanks,
Doug
DTD,
I had Jim add a small thumbrest on both. The shape is pretty much his standard, other than not much palm swell. Here's a couple pics of the thumbrest...... Thanks !!!
