Just read his essay on "Bowhunting" from his book "Father Water, Mother Woods". A great read about young kids building there own bow equipment, then hunting small game. the joy/satisfication is with hunting with a bow. It all culimates with one of the boys taking a deer.
Check it out.

One of my all time favorite authors as a youngster!

One of my favorites. His book Winter dance is my favorite.
Think that's what it's called...
EASILY my favorite author of all time!!!
Yes!
Just did a search, it was "Winterdance: the fine madness of running the Iditarod". I wouldn't say he's my personal favorite, but he's up there.
I read ALL his books when I was kid. Fond memories.
He's a great author ;) "Guts" was a very good book about Paulsen's life with a lot of great hunting and outdoor stories.
The kids at my work place wear his books out. Good reading for the younger generation (and older too) about growing up in the out-of-doors.
My sons love his books,
I'm glad to see the middle school library had the books for them to read.
Hatchet was my favorite book for YEARS. Awesome.
In fact, at the age of 10 or 11 I saved up $40 and bought an Est-Wing leather wrapped hatchet from the local hardware store. I had to do a lot of chores for that thing.
I took it with me whenever my brothers and I went outside. I can't tell you how many forts I constructed with that thing.
I enjoyed "Hatchet" as an adult, some years back.
YES YES YES, hatchet was good, brians winter was good too, but Brians Return was the best!!! I've read them all, guts was interesting, especially since Gary is a vegitarian now!!!
