7th Age Bowhunting, LLC is now booking for hog and javelina hunts January-March 2011(Crane County). Due to limited spots available this year we'll start booking early for the New Year hunts. These hunts are very low pressure hunts on very large ranches. Unlimited hogs and 2 javelina per person. Prices are $125 per day/3 day minimum.
Other hog/javelina hunts available in November and December 2010. "Hog only" hunts available year round. Thanks for your continued business and support. I couldn't have stayed in business for so long without you. Curtis Kellar

Good to see ya back! Did ya get my message? Talk to you soon.
Good to see ya around Curtis!!
Tell us about the new ranch.
Any pics?
Mike
Hey fella's, great to see yall too!! :wavey:
Mike, Last year was the first year I had the new place and so I still haven't seen the whole place. It's another big place. Lots of game and unlike other places I had in Crane County, this one doesn't get double booked over the top of us by quail hunters, hog dog hunters, etc, the way the other place did. Sorry to loose that place but the The Leassor kept screwing every hunter I took there by booking hunters over us when we had "exclusive" rights to the lease. He books as many hunters as he can at any given time and tells them all they have exclusive rights. It was just real bad for business. Mr Wight just about cost me the whole business because so many hunters were so unhappy.
This place is equally as good of hunting as long as the weather stays settled. There are as many hogs and javelina as any place in West Texas. I think there were 27 javelina killed and I lost count of hogs last year. If you saw pics of Texas Sweat or any of the Winter hunts then you saw the place. The only difference is that we'll have lodging instead of tents this year and more new property adjacent to this one. I'm short on time or I'd post more pics. Call me sometime. I'd love to get caught up.
Steadman, Got the message. Deposit that check if you haven't already. Thanks a ton! The window decals will be for sale soon. CK
Curtis,
Is this that ranch we hunted last year? That place was absolutely CRAWLING with game.
Kool to see You Back CK. I was just asking about you the other day...
Curtis,
I'll be heading out Thanksgiving to visit family. Looking forward to visitng with you for a couple of days. I'll be bringing about 20lbs.of boudin for you.

I meant to say this in my earlier post. If any of you guy's want a quality hunt in Texas for either hog or javalina, Curtis is the one to book with. I have hunted with 7th age several times and will do so again in the future.
Had a blast last year Curtis. Hope to do it again this year. You got mail...bill
Just sent ya a PM CK.
Thanks fella's!
Jason, It's the same place.
I'll return the emils and pm. Good to see you guys. CK
I want to book some hunting with Curtis. If there is anyone booking a hunt and need one or two guys to book with you please let me know. May be able to bring a friend of mine. If not, I will drive out myself. What is the best time to go considering weather etc. Thanks, Mark
Questions from a dummy who has never hunted hogs, javelina, or Texas:
What is the hunt like? I've never been hunting with an outfitter-what's a hunting day generally like? Is the ranch fenced? Do you hunt from stands/blinds at feeders or open country and stalk? Don't have a lot of money that some out of state hunts can cost, but yours seems pretty darned reasonable. What does it cost for tags, etc.? Minimum number of hunters at a time or could a guy book by himself (don't have many trad friends...)?
Thanks
Jeremy

Dick in Seattle... busy dusting off the Big Bad Wolf...
Jeremy, I'd prefer to let previous clients tell you about the hog and javelina hunts but I'll at least hit the high spots.
7th Age Bowhunting offers hunt packages custom designed to your specifications or we simply offer you a hunt that we feel is is the most productive by our standards. It's your choice. If you have a dream and you want it fullfilled we;ll try our best to do so.
All hunts book noon to noon. You arrive at noon, get settled, tour the ranch, and hunt that evening. The last day on the ranch you'll hunt the morning hunt and return for a noon departure. We run feeders on ranches that I don't frequent as often and we corn roads and water holes on ranches that I stay on. All hunts are highly productive. If the ranch has problems that affect hunts we drop the ranch from our available properties. 7th Age Bowhunting is about finding the very best properties with the highest concentrations of game. If the properties don't live up to our standards we let someone else have the ranches.
Prices are the cheapest in the industry for what we offer. $125 daily on most hunts. All packages custom unless you join the January and February hunts. Those two months are basically saved for Tradgang hunters. We rast the ranch for two weeks between every hunt to ensure little pressure on any animals. Hope that helps. Thanks for the inquiry. Few jackalopes around as well.
I have only hunted the new place once. I cannot comment on the Javies as I did not pursue them at all. I like big trophy hogs and this place has it's fair share of them. As always big trophy hogs are smart and have to be hunted like any trophy whitetail. I'll be back after them again in Feb or March.
Curtis,
Thanks for the email.. I will call you this afternoon.. I have at least one other trad Javelina chaser already committed on coming with me.. We may get more..!
JDSIII
Hey John3,
Are you getting a group together? When yall going? PM me if you would as I may be interested.
Ben
David, Them some nice Hogs and That jackalope looks like a nice size scooby snack.
Great to see you back on here curtis, hopin' to make it down for a hunt next year.
Dan
Sounds good, email you soon
Hey Curtis, I'll be moving to Fredericksburg in aug. I'll give you a call......
Mark
Thanks for the response-John III also sent me a pm with a little info. Don't think I'll be able to do a hunt in the next year, but will certainly keep you in mind for the future. Never been to TX and I think that'd sure make for a fun road trip :) .
Jeremy
Being a semi-retired storyteller, I couldn't resist making a big production out of my trip with Curtis last year. For a multi-page description of the whole adventure, from signup, building of a bow suitable for me to hunt with, travel and a day by day report:

The adventure of my young life and I'll be heading back as soon as Curtis tells me when to be where

Thanks for bringing a smile to my face fella's! It's so good to see so many old friends remind me through pictures of the great times we've shared! I really look forward to seeing all you again this year.
Dick, I'm still real proud of you in your accomplishment-the javelina.
Dan, I'd be disappointed to thing we wouldn't be riding around again this year chasing hogs and sharing some great conversation.
John, I'll stay close to a phone.
Stinson, Thanks for the photo's. You've become quite the hog hunter after all these years. Even if you do break all the hog hunting rules. :readit: :bigsmyl: It's always a pleasure to share camp with you!
Mark, Call me. I didn't get PM's for over a month. I returned yours yesterday! Can't wait to chat with you! CK
Looking forward to getting back wth you Curtis ol' buddy!

I only hunted the ranch once and I was up to my eyeballs in javelinas. One big boar kept trying to get into the blind with me. All weekend, packs of javis kept showing up like stray cats looking for food.
The only problem was that they weren't in season when I was there...stupid calendar!
Rob, I'm glad I'll be seeing you again soon. I've somehow developed a longing for the glittery flash of facial piercings contrasted against several square feet of inky skin art. :saywhat: :bigsmyl:
CK, what would be the best time to come and hunt Hogs & Javies? I have never taken a Javie and would like to.
I like to hunt hogs at night during the full moons of the summer months myself. Hogs are mostly nocturnal by nature and hunting them at night is hunting them when they want to be out and feeding. It also adds an element of adventure and adrenaline to be crawling, inching along the groung, closing the gap on a feeding boar in the light of moon. I guarantee you'll know where your heart is no matter how many hogs you've already killed.
Generally January and February anre my most sought after months. I do about 90% of my annual business then. Javelina season is open in the western end of the state so if you are wanting both species you may book then. Javelina season opens in October but I'm am now scheduled to be wrangling and guiding in Colorado at that time. Call me for any details. I'm always to answer questions about hunts. Thanks again for all the interest
Looking forward to the 2011 Sweat CK. Put me back in the Bull Pen for another try.
Curtis, my friend you started something when you put me on my first hog with an arrow. I'd shot many all over with guns but nothing beats the thrill of arrowing a big hog from 8ft out. As for rules :readit: I never did follow them much as a kid. My theory is outsmart em and be quiet and it's worked so far. That first hog was many many hogs ago and I'm sure glad to have attended that first (for me) Texas Sweat way back. Each year I look forward to the annual pilgrimage south to Texas. Many great friendships have formed over the years and it is wonderful to share camp with likeminded great folks.
What do You have booked so far in Jan/Feb. Might even do 2 hunts, One in Dec then again in Jan or Feb.
I second what Curtis said about night hunting for hogs , nothing more exciting in the hunting world, just sitting in the dark and listening to all the movement as the moon rises over the tops of the trees , the sound of hogs fighting amoungst themselves as they move closer to where you are sitting on the ground , a coyote howls in the distance, an armadillo moves past your leg and a possum scampers by in his quest for who knows what.
Then the next morning you find Mt. lion tracks on the dirt road behind where you were hunting , you were not alone hunting for meat this night.
Curtis is the best at walking Javelina in all of west Texas(long story , another time).
Jesse and I look forward to sharing more hunts with you Curtis.
Thanx Ted, Your really push me here Bro... When You coming to Tejas Ted? Might have to book that same week(end).
Curtis,we'll be back again this year,I'm just trying to see who wants to go an the time, once we get it settled I'll email ya.Had a blast last year an a couple other guys want to go now...Bill

Cool video, some how I need to get down there!
Hey Curtis it was good to hear your voice on that video of Charlie Lambs, all of us really enjoyed our hunt with you this last April, and learned alot for sure. it was a real pleasure to meet you. I'm not sure what or where we are going to hunt next  but I hope to get to hunt with you again. :wavey:
Great Video.

:deadhorse:
(this is just a cool avatar!! had to post it)
I have My dates down to either Jan 7, 8, 9 & maybe the 10th or Feb 4, 5, 6 & maybe the 7th.
Don't want to use up to many days before vacation time in March 2011.. The Wife would kill Me.
Lets get a group Together (http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=090016)
Sorry guys, I'm not nearly as accessable this time of year do to my multiple jobs in areas away from cell service. Im you call and don't leave a message it's likely that I don't know you called. If I have no service it doesn't show a missed call. If you leave a message about hunting I'll always get back to you.
I have two construction projects currently at the same time and I'm trying to ram-rod both at the same time. Pleased be patient with me. I'll try and return PM's and emails tonight. Otherwise call and leave a message if I miss you. Thanks a bunch! CK
PS. So far everyones desired hunting dates will work. Just remember that hunts book at noon on the first day till noon on the last day. A hunt for something like Jan 4,5,6 would only constitute a two day hunt when booking from noon till noon. Thanks again! CK
Thanks Curtis.. I fixed my "dates" for a full three days.. LOL
PM resent..
See you in January for west Texas adventure...
John III
Dare I ask, "what is this stick weilding smiley-con doing to his jackarse"?
:deadhorse:
I'm not sure but it's funny as heck!
Lots of guys are sending deposits now for early January. Thanks again! CK
So it would have to be 3,4,5 & 6 or 4,5,6 & 7.. that would make 3 days right...
Curtis, I had a tradganger named Mike also from Arizona call me and he and his dad hunted with you last year. He said he is contacting you to find the best dates and we will book together. I need to call him back to see if he has talked to you. Thanks
Mark
Whats the latest in the spring that Javelina and hogs are both open?
http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=146;t=000005
Have fun guys! Reed and I sure did!
Stone Knife-Javelina season closes in the last of February and reopens October 1st. I will be wrangling/guiding for elk in Colorado from August 31st-November(around Thanksgiving). 7th Age Bowhunting will be closed in Texas during those dates unless I get a very experienced Texas hog hunting guide to take over while I'm away.
Greg, Thanks for posting that link to Reeds javelina. That has corrected my attitude first thing this morning. Now I can go to work with a smile. Thanks!
Guys, I'll try and post all the details on Sponsor Classifieds tonight if I still have any energy. More later! CK
Take You time CK.. Be safe out there in the Heat.
