Title: Ever wonder where your gear has been, that you buy here
Post by: Arwin on January 08, 2007, 05:11:00 PM
I have bought and sold a few items through this wonderful web-site and have great experiences with all of them. You get to meet people from all over the place and interact. A question came to mind today or rather a thought. Do you ever wonder what places your gear has been, or what animals were harvested when it was used before you got it? What kind of experiences the previous owner had with it, good or bad? All the hours spent in a location foreign to yourself. I'm not trying to get all deep here. But the thought came to mind and I found it fascinating. I guess thats why I like to buy a bow, use it for a while, and send it off to a new place. Hopefully with another animal to it's name.  :archer:

I just bought a quiver from Arwin via this site! We were talking about this while doing the transaction! I hope the selway quiver is as lucky for me as it was for him!

Arwin, if you luck suddenly turns bad after selling me the quiver, lemme know and I'll send your mojo maker back to ya...ha ha ha!

Great thougt for a post anyone else have any stories along these lines?

Thanks again Arwin!
JAJ

With as much stuff as I have sold here there must be some real adventures out there. Stopping to think about it there are alot of Trad Gang items going to Canada this fall with me. Knife from sticshooter, woodsmans from Chad Jones,CatquiverIII from BrianP,arrow wraps from Onestringer,Bow hush and Puppies from Terry Green. I could go on and on but you get the picture. Kinda curious where some of the stuff I sent out has been.

Yes I have wondered that.

I also thought it would have been neat to have the people that have used the LDB sign it. It would be full of names by now.

Yes, I usually make it a point to ask. A passed on bow can be full of campfire stories.
I appreciate some former bow owners humoring me, when I ask all about a bow's history.   :archer:

On a similar note, some guys prefer that a used bow not have a name on it.  Doesn't bother me at all, in fact I kind of like it.  Right now my three main hunting bows are named Tedd, Mike, and Alex.  I take those guys hunting with me as often as I can!  :D

I bought a Kolometz longbow on here a while back called the Yellow dog II, and from the first shots I loved this bow, so I set about to find it's origin, It was made by a man in Ohio named John Kolometz and once owned by Denny Sturgis jr. a man I greatly admire, this bow has become one of my prized posessions not just because Denny owned it but because it is a great bow! if any of you have any more info on this bow ,Please let me know!...Steve

...And John, Thank you for building such a great bow, it puts a smile on my face every time I shoot it!

Yes, I have wondered and always try to ask about it. 95% percent of my hunting gear was made by or for someone else and gave to me as a gift from very special people.I try to make it that way. The walk in the woods has a very special meaning to me that way. And I know a lot of my gear has seen some country. Thanks guys!

Mr. Vic,

I hope to get that new piece of gear together in a few days.  It is sure going to enjoy getting away from this cold, snowy weather.  LOL!!!

I bet my gear has travelled more than I ever will.  I love the Trading Blanket.  HA HA HA!!!

It's like a time Capsule or should I say experience capsule every time you open the package the mail man brought you.  Very exciting
