G'day all,
Well as the title states...now is not the time to be thinking of a new bow, more so a new widdow.
From all accounts I've a torn rotor cuff in my drawing arm/shoulder (an old Army rugby injury, not from shooting) and I've been told I may need to go under the knife. Not a happy camper as I just love - and now miss- shooting my bow daily. I can hardly draw a bow now for the pain it brings on.
And to think I was planning on ordering a new curve...
:help:
That stinks Al I feel your pain I've got a number of old battlescares that seam to rear there ugly head a lot more frequently.Hope you get better soon.I'm planning on a new BW very soon I would be happy to post a few pics to aid in your recovery.
AL, get that shoulder taken care of brother. You've got a lot of years of shooting and hunting left ahead of you. You still need to get to Indiana to hunt whitetail with me someday soon.
Hey...........you could order a new Widow in a lighter weight and write it off as a "rehab" bow! You can always order heavier limbs for it as you recover. Maybe even 2 or 3 sets if that is what it takes!!! Got to look on the positive side.
Seriously, I will keep you in my prayers. God Bless, Mike
Al...let me know what # you can shoot and I'll send one up to you [ won't be a Widder but ] ... I have a couple of lower poundages that i keep on hand for kids , gals and newbies at the ranch ...
was it Union or League ? If it was Union I'll even supply the arrows .....
Sorry to hear your shooting time is out for now. Had elbow surgery a few years ago and it seemed like forever before I got to shoot again. Take a break from rasslin' them crocs too Mate!
I hear ya Al...I've had to cut back on my shooting cause of cuff issues too (tennis and baseball for me)..thankfully I was able to get away with rest and then strengthening exercises...its much better lately. If you dont need surgery then be sure to take the physical therapy as far as you can go...if they do cut then do everything as they tell you too in the rehab. I know a bunch of guys who went too far too soon and needed second and third surgeries.
Good Luck...
Al I had rotator cuff surgery about a year ago after shooting with a LOT of pain for over 2 years. Don't wait get it taken care of now. Dr said he almost wasn't able to get it back together because of the time I waited. I did however get a lighter set of osage limbs for my Widow PSA while I was rehabing and they were great to start shooting with when Dr allowed it. I'm pain free now but it was close.Little pain a lot to gain. Frank
I've never had shoulder problems (yet) but I've been working on my lefty draw lately. Its amazing how quickly a persons muscles will adjust. Good luck with the shoulder.
AL, you would not believe the nice bows BW had on display in Alabama last week. They had tons of low poundage bows in the 30s and 40s. Just what you need for rehab and for working on form!
Sorry to here about your shoulder....i hope for a quick recovery for you....maybe you should look at a lighter poundage bow anyway...I do know the ACS at 60# that I have now is something else....I know you want a BW, but if you haven't tried one...maybe it's time...

Al,sorry for your pain,I can immagine how hard is for you to stay away from your beloved sport. But don't loose time make what you have to do and it will be just a remembrance.Good luck, keep us posted.
Bugger, Al. No good mate. Get that shoulder looked after and back into it.
Real sorry to hear that, Al. I sure hope you get well soon.
Tough break about the shoulder mate, those Sambar will just have to wait hey.
Hope all goes well with the Op if you need one, until then enjoy the BlackWidow porn.
Cheers Mate
Sorry to hear that Al. Dang it man. Hope you have a speedy recovery.
That sucks Al, hope it heals up nicely for ya! My shoulder gets a little sore now and then, so I have to lay off shooting for a month and it's good to go again.

First off follow the doctors orders!
I like the idea of ordering a lighter Widow as a rehab bow, heavier limbs later.
Take care and you will be shooting before you know it.
Gee... thanks fellas, and yes I plan to follow the doc's orders... but I tells ya, I'm THE worst man in a Hospital if there ever was one!
I just have to sort out with Vet Affairs to pay the bills and I'm on my way.
Now.... where are all the BW pics!!
I like the idea of a cross grain Greybark or a Zircote (with no red in the riser) and I'm not sure if I sould go with a faith full PSA, try the new PCH or lash out on one piece PA.... hummm .... post away fellas!
I need some ideas to pass the times!
Cheers again,
ak.
You look better with a longbow! :goldtooth: :archer2:

Can you ahndle some more...I have more..Hmm
Seriuosly bud I know what you are going through and I truly sympathize with you. When I screwed my tendons up last fall and I couldn't shoot for four months it was killing me.
Just do the right stuff...get healed and let me know if you need some $$$ too for your surgery...I am a bit flush right now so I can help out ok.
Hope to meet and shoot with you some day. My last trip out to Ontario for the Skills Competition gave me a look into our gang..some mighty fine ppl out there and we really should organize ONE TRADGANG GET TOGETHER.
I think Milwaulkee would be a central place and we could drive RON JOE and ROBB crazy there.
HA HA HA HA

March 4th I underwent massive rotator cuff arthroscopy, subacromial decompression and an open biceps tenodesis. Shot a 25# bow for the first time last Thursday. Pain was the least of my problems, immobilization almost drove me nuts though. Do what the Doc says, but more importantly, do what your physical therapist tells you to. I'm still doing physical therapy and I think shooting my little recurve helps. Best wishes.

Cheers for all Jerry.. well done mate, well done! I've love a range like that at home! And that widder is something I've not seen before with the white stripe through it.
ak.
Man, that's terrible Al. I wish you the best.
Get well soon Al i will be thinking of you brother.
One of the major reasons i order low poundage bows is because i dont want to mess my shoulder up.
I hear a lot of guys saying they wished they wouldn't have shot such heavy bows early on.
Not saying you did that Al but it sure is something to think about.
Thanks al yes I really like her..just trying to figure out which to use right now...the PCH or the ACS...hard call.
