For years I have used Mitchum's Scent Free deodorant with excellent results. Lately they must have changed the formula as it now has a perfumy smell to it. Since I had been thinking about it I will just throw the question out there. What deodorants or antiperspirants do you guys like that do not smell? Paul Brunner (aka Too Short) used to sell a product I remember being called Lavolin or something like that. Please let me know what works for you.
-
Arm and hammer scent free.
-
I second the Arm & Hammer brand!
-
I used Brunner's Lavulin and it worked pretty well, but it was in a small box and pricey. So my everyday one is Arm & Hammer, cheap and good.
-
GO TO THE DRUG STORE AND A FIND ROLL ON called CERTAIN DRY, IT'S UNSCENTED AND YOU USE IT THE NIGHT BEFORE! So the next day you shower and wash away any scent! You should use it every NIGHT for a week then every other after that. It states on the instructions that the average preson can go 72hours between uses(but we all know bow hunters are NOT average people)
SO NO WETNESS=NO ODOR (I LIKED THE PAUL BRUNNER cream too, can't find it) DO NOT GET THE STICK STAY DRY HAS ALOT OF PURFUME
GET THE ROLL ON! WORKS ON HANDS & FEET!!!! :archer2:
-
Speed Stick unscented
-
Ban Roll On unscented. No detectable scent to my nose at all.
-
Arm & Hammer scent free.
-
I 2nd the Ban roll-on unscented....green bottle.

What Too Short used to sell as "Pit-Stop" is spelled Lavilin. I've used it for 10 years, and love it.
Not an antiperspirant, but a deodorant that lasts me 2-3 WEEKS between applications.
I get it for about $10 online from one of the vitamin places and buy 4-5 at a time to save shipping. Ends up being a several-year supply of a product that really works for me.
-
Arm and Hammer for me also.
I like spraying my feet with Right Gaurd unscented. Keeps my feet from sweating and getting all stinky during our warm September season.
-
The Dead Downwind is pretty good but I personally don't get the overpriceyness of it. Just about any unscented deodorant is fine.
Just a note from my chiropractor friend. Most antiperspirants contain aluminum in some form or fashion. Aluminum has been linked to Parkinsons and Alzheimers. Use at your own risk.
-
I can trump all, including Mitchum, which I use for "catting". Go to a health store and buy some pure crystal deodorant. It looks like a cloudy stone. Get it wet and rub it where ever you perspire. The second best quality is under 10 bucks and it lasts over 5 years of everyday use.

Dry idea clear gel unscented.

You can still get Lavalin from Screaming Eagle at http://www.e-screamingeagle.com. It is the same thing as PitStop that Paul sold, and comes in a very similar-sized small screw-top container. Not sure if it qualifies as either an antiperspirant or deodorant; seem to remember it had anti-bacterial properties (bacterial breakdown of sweat is what causes pit odor). Common antiperspirants contain aluminum chlorhydrate, which basically shuts your sweat glands down (and there is debate on the safety of its long-term use). Simple deodorants are just that: perfumes that cover up the smell. Yes it is expensive for the amount that you get, but it lasts at least 5 days per application (apply after a shower in the evening, wash off the next day), and thus one container can last an entire hunting season. I still use it, even the foot formula, which is just a higher concentration.

Sure unscented. Either stick or spray.
-
I like the "ball type", not the underarm.
-
LOVE SCEAMING EAGLES TREE STANDS (HAVE 2) GLADE THEY're BACK!!!!!
-
Hunters choice it's cheep and works.
-
Keep it coming....thanks!
-
I use Sure stick, and I use Sure spray on my feet. Both can be found unscented and both work rather well. The spray helps my feet stay warm by lessening the sweat on the walks in and out.
-
unscented Dove, Been using it for 35 years.
-
I just use regular old smell good deodorant. It's either too hot and I'm sweating like crazy anyways or it's too cold and I've got too many layers on to worry about deer smelling it.
-
I use Hunter Specialties pit stick, supposed to be unscented, I can't smell it.
-
I second the Lavulin. Spendy but a little lasts almost a week for me. Incredible deodorant, and I'm otherwise as stinky as they come.
-
Arm and Hammer, but the mineral crystal stuff works really well if you can find it. Can't think of the name of it.
-
It costs $4 and virtually lasts me the entire season.

I always hated using deoderant because no matter which one I tried...and I think I tried all mentioned here, they all failed my end-of-day hug test with my wife.
When I decided to get serious about hunting, I tried Hunter's Specialties Body Moisture and to my surprise, when I went to change underwear at the end of the day, the two pairs got mixed up, and in order to determine the clean ones, I put them to the old sniff test....couldn't tell the difference. Thought it was just old undecerning me, but the next day both my wife and two daughters confirmed that I was infact odorless. That was good enough for me...hope I get to hug a whitetail or two.

Dude, too much information!! :scared:
-
another for DEAD DOWN WIND! H.S. is good too, but the Dead Down Wind just goes on better and doesnt flake off into white powder as the H.S. does.
-
No one elso has used the mineral crystal stuff?
-
A&H it cheap and works great
-
Go to your local health food store and buy a crystal salt deodorant stick. Lasts for a long time. Actually gets rid of odor causing bacteria instead of covering up the smell after the fact. They also likely sell colloidal silver which you can put in a spray bottle, which will also slow odor causing bacteria growth. Type em into google for the details :)
-
Looks like i have a few options to try for the Summer. I have tried the Hunters Specialties but that, too, has a slight odor to it and I have not had good results with it. My wife has some of the Tom's from Maine unscented so I'll start with that and then try the Arm and Hammer. Thanks for the imput.
-
I use Swagger when I go hunting... for Cougars...
-
Use the salt crystal before the A&H if you get the chance.
-
Yeah, I second the Crystal rock. It's not an anti-perspirant. It simply kills bacteria and does it very well.....no odor.
-
I'll second the crystal deoderant. Last forever and does a great job. Can buy it on line, at vitamin or health stores. You will not find it at high in chain stores. They don't want to sell anything that last that long. Believe mine is called the Rock. Shower then wet the rock and apply. Believe the larger size is around $6.00 but it will last a long time.
-
I use the Crystal from Cover-up
-
Yep the crystal rock works great, and lasts for years. I also use Sure unscented. But here is something I learned from my wife's grandfather. Is to shave your armpits. The hair is what really holds the smell, and the antipersperants get right to the skin. Laugh all you want guys, but it does help cut down on body odor. Especially if you can't shower daily. Laughing myself, Jim
-
I use a deodorant Crystal, All the time. They can be found at most health food type stores. (I know my bear quest guys are gonna have a field day with this one) Anyway, they work amazing ZERO scent, Zero Chemicals, All natural, and wont clog your pores which other deodorants are made to do.
Worth looking into... OH and the best part.... They LAST FOR YEARS! or until you drop it on the bathroom floor and it shatters into a million pieces...
$4.00

Sorry to hear about the Mitchum. I only use it for hunting season... but I notice that many of my favorite aftershaves and deoderants now use the disgusting cheap-butt Parfum that seems the rage...cheapens the smell and makes it smell like caca to me... fires my allergies too!
I used Robinson Labs Hair & Body deoderant gel, then use the "crystal" till it starts to dry out and chatter across your pits. That can wake you up! :)
Do it every day but like something more in season. The Scent Shield stuff in the black bottle works if you start using it regularly 2 weeks before season to really tame down all odiferous areas of the body... and keeps it down used daily.

Toms of Maine
-
I have always used the Mitchum and after reading this I sniff checked an open one in my shaving kit and a new one in the cabinet and I don't smell anything.
At least not anything that would cause a problem.
-
Frankwright: I wish I could say the same. For about a year or so now both Laura and I have been trying other scent free deodorants/antiperspirants and even some of the "hunting" ones have an odor. Mitchum has clearly changed their formulation and for everyday living the faint odor is not really noticeable. However, in a hunting situation I do not want any odors I can avoid, especially ones that I apply to myself. To me a faint odor is like a "little sound"....not at all desireable if it can be avoided. A faint odor to us humans is not so faint to a nervous whitetail or black bear. We will try the ones that have been suggested and hopefully find one that suits our purposes as far as we can determine.
-
Lavilin for me. I can get a week between applications even in 100 degree heat. Its really a good value considering how long one can will last, with an application lasting upwards of a week. Its nice not having white deodorant stains in the arm pits of clothing. Its totally scent free after the first wash. I also prefer the foot formula but both work well. And like was mentioned it kills odor on contact so your body sweats normally doing what it is supposed to.
-
Sure scent free
-
arm and hammer or ban. It is pretty easy to find one that is scent free at walmart. I'm sure I've look pretty stupid trying to sniff them all in the deodorant isle. Like I could smell as good as a whitetail anyway!
I like the dead down wind version, but it is sticky and uncomfortable to me if you don't go light with it.
-
HANDS DOWN it is the Pure & Natural Crystal Deodorant Stone.
This stuff is made from crystallized natural mineral salts. It kills bacteria that causes odor. It is NOT an antiperspirant (no aluminum chlorhydrate to stop up your pores) so you can still sweat. However, you won't smell. It is marketed by Deodorant Stones of America.
www.pureandnaturaldeodorant.com (http://www.pureandnaturaldeodorant.com)
I get mine from an independent, locally owned pharmacy. Use it everyday and a 4.25oz stone will last you for years. Trust me on this one......
-
Mennan unscented Speed Stick
-
Ric: i like the sound of the mineral stone. I think I will order one and see how it holds up doing summer chores. That's a pretty good test for me because I am a sweater. Just packing my gym bag I start to perspire. A number of the others we can get locally will also get the summer chore test. Thanks again to all who responded. This is the best bowhunting site on the web...great bunch of guys and a few gals.
-
Arm and Hammer seems to work well.
-
Bill -
I meant to add that it works on "smelly feet" too. Just rub it onto your bare feet before you put your socks on.

"Ric O'Shay" turned me on to the Crystal Deoerant stone a couple of years ago. I checked this morning. The container says "Amazing Thai Crystal deoderant stone. Over 10 million sold." Its all natural and contains no Aluminum Chlorhydrate. I've used it daily for two years and it will probably be good for another two years to boot. Well worth the money you'll spend to try it out.
-
I just ordered a stone, thanks for the thread and the info.

Here is a link for the lavilin that Brunner sold.

I won't go to the woods without using it, in fact I use it everyday if I use anything at all.
Works like a champ!

The crystal deodorant broke me out. "Sure" brand unscented works best for me.
