Title: Wood combo help needed (Ruby Dymondwood)
Post by: TexasStick81 on June 07, 2010, 11:06:00 PM
So I bought a Horne Brush Bow from Wannabe1 a few weeks ago and I love it so much I've decided to try and buy a new one if I can come up with the funds. I have always wanted a gray or charcoal bow.  I also like the look of some of them with a dark red accent of some sort.  Please help me out with possible options and pictures if you have any.  Thanks.

Macassar Ebony is dark charcoal and goes very well with Bocote.  This is my personal favorite.

Bubinga is a reddish color and Canarywood has hues of Orange, Yellow and Reds.

Likewise Cocobolo is also reddish.  Call Mark or Sandy Horne.  They can assist you in any color you want

Best of luck with your quest.

Emailed with Sandy.  They have enough gray dymond wood for the riser, thoughts on a limb choice?  I'd like the limbs to be gray also.  I'm looking for a dark red to use as a swoop accent the gray dymond wood riser.

I have a grey action wood long bow with bamboo limbs that are stained charcoal grey under clear glass. When at 3d shoot want to remember where you hang it up because if you get away from it,it almost disapears agenst the shadows in the woods.

I'd love to see some pics, could you post a few?  I hear the bamboo or maple stained grey is nice

Here you go.  TJ has a LB with I think cocobolo you can see and Jacobsladder has a nice fire fly with gray maple.

I would also put charcoal cross grain action wood on the short list.

I found this pic I'd saved some time back.  I can't find this bow any where and I'm not finding any other bow with "ruby dymondwood", anybody else seen one like it?

Here's a Firefly stock bow we have with what Jim calls "Red Wine Dymondwood".
