we (me, John3, djanko, Bel007) are headed to Ray's Hog Heaven for fourth of July weekend.
We've got room for more so in honor of Independence Day I am offering to cover the cost of the hunt and tag for one vet in particular need of some R&R. I need your help to find that person. I was hoping to find a wounded, physically challenged, recovering (not all wounds are physical) or deploying vet who will miss the hunting season among us tradgangers.
Please send me a brief description of the person (or yourself) who NEEDS this hunt (can't say deserve since they all do) most. If there are multiple vets I'll pick the one who seems to need it most.
Ray's place is flat, there are treestands and we can even set up a ground blind to accommodate any physical challenges.
Thanks for your help...

Thank You.
Thats outstanding! What a great thing to do!
Well we will be honored with the presence of an Army Ranger. Below is a summary of his service.
Chris Surtees. He has 19 years of service in the U.S. Army.
Although not a wounded vet from weapons fire, he has some physical problems that have stemmed from his service in the U.S. Army as an Airborne Ranger.
He has taken on some hard assignments during his career. He is now serving his final tour of duty at Fort Benning, Georgia. However, he served as a Platoon Leader on the DMZ in Korea for a year. Served in Somalia for six months, and was the gunner in the rescue helo that brought back the remains of the news correspondents that were slaughtered. And his latest deployment was in Iraq where he served for 20 months. He earned 2 Bronze Stars while serving in Iraq.
He now has another worry on his mind as his 18 year old son, my grandson, is now serving in Iraq for a year long deployment.
But above all of his service to our Country, he has been a friend and ally on Trad Gang!
Thats a stand up thing. Im sure you will make someone very happy. Thanks
Another example of the great people on this site. God bless you

Chopx2 and everyone on this board:
Thank you for being different. When my generation came home (circa 1969) we had bags of dog crap thrown at us and were called "baby killers" Hell, we didn't start the war, just did our duty.
Our Military deserves respect and has EARNED it.

Thanks Chop for your gesture to Chris.
John Nail, you, and all the people that served in Vietnam have my respect!
Awesome gesture! The hogs in South Carolina are trembling already!

:campfire:
I would like to thank Tony and Gil for offering the hunt up. My dad put my name in and he told me this morning that I was going.
This was the last thing I expected when woke this morning. At first I had no idea what he was talking about until he explained it to me.
There are a lot of deserving vets out there and thank them for their service.
I am truly honored to have been chosen to go on the this hunt.
Please don't thank me. Your service and sacrifices can't be repaid. It is my pleasure. Also we appreciate your sacrifice with your son currently serving. I thank Tony for the idea. A vet on the Forth, great stuff.
I am going to Ray's next May, have fun and leave one big one for me next year.
