Got out on the Mohawk river today with my buddy Charlie (Cyclic-Rivers) for my first attempt at bowfishing. What a blast!!!
Plenty of shots to be had, I just couldn't pull it off. Man, is it hard to keep thinking "shoot low". Was able to connect with a decent-sized fish finally, but it wound up pulling off the arrow.
Still, a great time was had. Can't believe I've gone so long without bowfishing. Already searching 3Rivers for my own arrows/line/points. Can't wait to get out there again with ya' Charlie...
It is a lot of fun :archer2:
It's pretty cool isn't it
Now you're "hooked" :clapper:
Between the frogs and now the carp, the waterways around here are going to see plenty of arrows...
Cleaned my boat out today gonna give this a shot real soon!!
Gotta love bowfishing. I have a nice spot on the Grand River I can get to in 10 minutes with easy stalking off the bank. The fishing has just heated up in the last week, the carp are rolling. Have shot 12 so far.
I got hooked about 2 years ago, can't believe I hadn't tried it before!
Chris, I wanted you to shoot a Carp so badly so I could try out the new gaff design. we'll have to do it again soon. Now that I figured out how to start the boat. :smileystooges:
Don't get discouraged, when I first started it took me until the end of my second summer to connect. Of course the first summer we were using Tin cans taped to our bows.
You see what I mean though about always having 2 guys ready? I practically wanted to jump in after a couple while you were gearing up for another shot. :biglaugh:
Get yourself a pair of polarized glasses and we'll be good to go.
Too bad your fish pulled off, but at least you were able to connect. Sometimes sticking the first one is the hardest part. Once you get it dialed down its easy. Then comes deer season and you will shoot low
Had a great time bud, glad to have shared it with you!
