Title: A returned order and postage...sorry!
Post by: Oliverstacy on June 04, 2010, 05:02:00 PM
All,

Hope I can post this in the PowWow...mod's please let me know if you need to move or delete this.

I have changed the way I ship some of the orders and had one come back today while others (packaged the same way with the same postage) have made it to the destination without delay.  The order that was returned today was sent out late on 5-28-10 (more than likely moved starting Tuesday after the holiday), I got it back out today with the extra postage indicated.

The shipper packages in question are the 6"x9" bubble padded envelopes (under the minimum weight without needed up-charge)...I've sent close to 20 orders this way without incident yet I feel terrible that this one was returned.  I spend hours at night to get these strings ready and shipped ASAP so I hate to see something like this happen.  The APC machines indicate that $1.05 large envelope fees are what I need...maybe I need to select a different method.  I'd love to hear from some that work for the PO.

I have been using the Automated Postage Machines that are in the lobbies so I don't have to wait in line.  I select the large envelope and depending on the weight it tells me it cost $1.05...this one needed $.34 more (which would make it Parcel Package I believe).

I have PM'd and emailed everyone that I have sent this style shipper package out to recently that should get or expect to get so they know the situation.  If you're affected I will make it up in one way or another...if you're affected please contact me ASAP and I will make it right in anyway possible.  I haven't been told from anyone that they received a package that required postage due so if you have please let me know.

Again I'm sorry for the delay if you're affected...I'm will get this corrected so it won't happen again going forward.

Thanks,

Josh

Steve,

I'm really sorry about this!  Please let me know how I can make it up even though you said not to worry about it!

Sometimes the clerks don't catch a "Postage Due" piece of mail, but mostly they do. I would go to the PO and talk to a real human bean about your parcels.

I am a carrier, so I don't know all the ins and outs and rates and stuff. I just know how to find you and deliver your mail. You need to talk to a good clerk.

Killdeer,

I guess this is the part that gets me the most...I've talked to around 10 different people at three Post Offices about different envelopes and postages required, I get many different responses.  Clerks will tell me one thing and supervisors will tell me another...I don't have a lot of time to wait for a clerk when the line sometimes takes 20+ minutes.

I guess I will have to start taking all of these style packages to the counter and have them apply the postage and see what it costs and then I'll have a better idea of what the proper envelope/parcel setting will be required at the APS machines.

Bottom line is this...going forward after today it will not be an issue for the end customer as I will correct it on my end!  If the clerk gets the postage wrong and they determined how it should go and what it should cost I would assume it their error and it should deliver without problems.

Again if you've been affected by my error I'm deeply sorry!

Thanks,

Josh

An extra 34 cents tacked on to the price of one of your strings is still one heck of a good deal. You get what you pay for

Stone, my thoughts exactly, 34 cents is not going to break me.
Josh, seriously, it's not that big a deal, but thank you.

Josh, again, welcome to the service world! Find yourself a "Killie", it does make a difference!

I always tell folks, " I'm in the string making business, not the packing, shipping service"!

Folks, it not Govt, or Post office, it's another breathing, Human Being, causing problems!

I have only had the best of service from Oliverstacey strings.
Josh gave me a free one when he thought the results were less than perfect.
Given the quality and great lead time, you have nothing to worry about Josh.
All of us that have done business from you know what quality service is all about.
