Post by: GREATBROWNKNOCKEMDOWN on June 02, 2010, 11:50:00 PM
Just received my new Big River longbow and a new custom quiver by HNHLeather Works. the long bow is 60inches and 50lbs at 25inch draw all bocote with black and red micarta assent stripes and white glass and red micarta overlays. the quiver is bison leather with a bear print on it. I am like a kid in a candy shop.  pics will be posted very shortly!

I gotta say, pics will not do either the bow or the quiver justice! The Big River Bows are just an amazing bow. Those folks that have had the pleasure to shoot one of Johns bows, always buy another one or two..... Best bow I have ever shot!

HNH Quivers are pretty awesome to boot, just look at it!!!!

Nice looking bow.  I was introduced to John in person last Monday.  Walked away with a beautiful Tulip wood R/D.  Goes real good with the 'D' shaped Big River I already have.  I know what you mean about kid in a candy store.  I just got back into trad in December and already own three bows hahaha.  Is there a tutorial on how to post pics on here?

Rafael,

I had my eye on that bow as soon as I walked into John's shop.  Then I shot it and another bow and had to have it.  It's 66" 55#'s @28.  I don't remember ever seeing tulip wood before and was really taken by it.

Pete,                                                                                                       Yeah he had a pic of tulip wood bow he made for a gal, its a beautiful wood. Big Rivers are very good shooting bows. They are simple and good looking no big frills about them, but they are shooters and no hand shock at all. I shot  a lot of different long bow this year at kalamazoo Mich. the only bow that was comparable to my Big River was the Northern Mist another great shooting bow.       Hey! that might be an Idea for my 4th bow.

For an old geezer , John makes some nice bows. I hope to go up to the shop & nail down the specs on my elk hunting curve next week.

Bigriver,  I think you meant John is an old geezer and makes a nice bow for a young guy, old guy or a medium guy.  I'd put his one piece up against anyone.

Here you go Steve.  He goes by Highnooner Leatherworks,

I got his St. Judes quiver from last year, what a great piece of work.  Congrats Rafael, new bow, new quiver, our hunt in North Dakota in November will truly be icing on the cake.

yeah Steve, Bobby is an awesome person to deal with but it will take some time to get a pretty quiver like that done, but well worth the wait, one of the nicest persons to talk and deal with.                                                  And Bruce well if it wasn't for me seeing your quiver i wouldn't have one rite now! As for North Dakota, i cant wait!

Word of Advice Do not visit John 's shop or shoot a Big River unless you have a couple hundred bucks lying around   :banghead:

If I could afford it I would have 20 of his bows   :banghead:  had to stop going to the shop.  I know what you mean by kid in the candy store.

Nice pics guys!  I would match John's bows up to anything for shootability!

Thanks for turning me on to him Joe!

John's version of the Howard Hill style bow is about as good as it gets for my taste.

I shot this bow last night, it`s a dandy. I think John`s bows have actually gotten better. I hope I can just make it to my 80`s, let alone make beautiful bows! The quiver is really cool too.
