Just back from my SASK.bear hunting.
I get some pics and my story for you, plus some considerations about Tradgangers.

Way to go Felix.
I can't wait to hear the story.
Awesome Felix.. Good looking bear!
This was my second bear hunt in SASK,this one is been a long quest since I was booked for the second one since the end of the first in 2006.
Then I took a very nice blond young boar just after one hour on the first day.I decided to take the shoot on that 175#er because the rare color. The same day I saw from the same spot other 10 bear with some much bigger ones coming later and almost at dark.I used my Robertson Vision 65# with XX78 2219 and Zwickey 2 bl head.
Complete pass through and the bear made a short 30 ys.The reasons I delayed that much on the second hunt happened every year just prior of leaving. In 2007 my son had a very bad incident with his motorcycle going at school. It took a full 15 months for recovery competely.
Next year this old guys brooke a couple of ribs and some blood vessels on his leg, falling with his dirt bike,KTM 450 EXC, just 15 days before leaving. The third year my wife was diagnosticated of a breast cancer nad had to be operated ASAP.I am glad that this last May nothing bad happened.
Great bear Felix! Congrats!!
gotta stay away from those big toys. Congrats on the bear.
Good job Felix. Good looking bear and bow.
Nice looking bear and good looking bow. Glad it all came together for you this year.
As I arrived in SASKATOON after a very fatiguing trip and 3 airplanes taken(Milan-Frankfurt-Toronto-Saskatoon)I had the first highlight of this expedition.
I meet Steve Clandinin from SASK. and his son Lee.We had just changed a couple of PM here before meeting, but since he was there visiting his daughter,he took the time to meet me and spend a couple of hours together. We become right away good friends since the first hand shake.
We shared a lot of common points of wievs and stories.Once again I was impressed how many GREAT persons roam here and how lucky we are to have a chance to meet here everyday expecially for me that I live so far from the most of you.

Hope your bad luck is all gone , from the looks of that bear maybe yes!! :clapper:
The weather is not been really nice: cold, windy and rainy, the bears looked to be not really active. When we arrived the first day was sunny but that is been all the sun we had seen in a week. The previous day another bowhunter killed a beautyful 410# blacky and they found it the next day.
Congrats! Good shootin! Glad to hear you were able to make the trip. Sounds like you had it coming.
I was the only traditional archer on camp, but really focoused to show them how we can score.
A wheeler had problem with his equipment with the rest going by itself and this ended with 2 wounded bears not recovered before he realised that something was wrong. This things remind me how much more reliable are our bows, where semplicity is the key of success.
Congratulations mi amico, great shooting.
The bear was 225 with a nice fur.
I had a couple of better bear at range but they were not so good looking ones.

CONGRATS FELIX!!
You have my complete attention.
Well, as soon as I finish my ice cream.
Killdeer :wavey:
The bow is my Blacktail VL 61#-@29" Eritage Carbon Express 350 291/4 100 insert and 150 WW.
I shot it after he charged the sow with him and made a good shoot at 15 ys.I saw the fletching desappiring in the spot I was focoused in. He made maybe 40ys before singing in death roar. The arrow remained stuck on the groud after it passed completely through.
This is my second heart shoot this year after the one on the Wild Boar.
This is my bear with the bow,the other bear is been taken by a friend of mine with his compound, also that is been a clean kill.
I love this Blacktail bows, but I don't remember to hadn't loved any others either.
Congratulations, sounds like you had a wonderful hunt. Mike
Way to go sir!
Nice going Felix, beauty of a bear!! You are on a well deserved roll!
Felix Congratulations man that is GREAT.
Felix, CONGRATS!!!!!
I have been thinking about you my friend. Story and pictures are fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing.
I love reading your hunting stories. Great looking bear. Glad you are back home safe and sound.
Thank you my friends.
The bear is been the second highlight of my Journey, the third is been a phone call to another TradGanger living close to my camp.
Dell Johnson called me on camp and we had a nice conversation,he is a avid bear hunter with a lot of tips to share.Last year he scored a wopping 21and3/16 on a boar.Once again I had the feel of a nice and giving person like are all the guys that I have personally or in PMs met here.
The Blacktail comes through for you! Is it this bow's first kill?
I wear ASAT when it isn't really cold, but on this hunt my rain gear was on me all the time.
I protect the feathers with some plastic bags, the same that are used for packing the bowstrings with a rubber band toward the point and the sealing on the nock side,so it is easy to slip it off silently.
Yes David, this bow was been made in 2005 but it had seen few action since now.
I plan to use as a wild boar cure tomorrow,if I get luck.
congrats !!!! nice job !!!! nice bear ... nice shootin/hunting. always a pleasure to see that sweet blacktail.

My son and I had the honor of meeting Felix and his friends in Saskatoon just prior to his hunt.I had never met Felix, but from the first minute on it was like a reunion with an old friend we had so much in common and i really wished we had more time.felix contacted me right after he got out of the bush and told me of his great hunt, but it was Felixs hunt and his story to tell.he gave me some of the best Parmissan cheese I've ever had and My son is setting up a guided hunt for Felixs friend Georgio in Alberta.I've got an Elk hunt planned this fall with a couple of Tradgang friends from Arkansas and if the areas good I told Felix the following year to pack his bugle.A finer man I have never met.Well done my friend.Steve.
Congratulations Felix, on a great bear. Thanks for sharing the story and pictures. You did that Blacktail proud.
Congrats on your hunt! Hope you and your family stay in good health so you can enjoy your new Blacktail some more.

Congratulations Felix! Nice bear and a beautiful Blacktail.

My friend Giorgio with a 39" pike.Sask.is this too.
Congrats! Nice bear and good shootin!
Congratulations Felix!!! It was really fun for me to run across this thread today. I am leaving for Saskatchewan for my 1st bear hunt this Sunday. We fly into Saskatoon and then drive to Smoothstone Lake Lodge. My two hunting buddies were there last year and had a great time. It sounds like we will be getting into some pike fishing as well as the bear hunting. I have always noticed your posts here on TradGang and have been jealous of all of the beautiful bows you have. Not only do you have some really nice bows but you obviously know how to shoot them!!!
Dan
Thank you Dan for the kind words.I see on your avatar you have a Robertson Vision and it is a great bow maybe my prefered till now.I own many bows but you can't go wrong with any one because all bowyers are very talented right now,it is just how much time you spend with your bow that makes the difference,no Holy Graal just dedication.I wish you a great hunt and fishing where you are leading. For sure SASK is magic.

The last supper.
Thanks Felix! I agree with you that the Robertsons are really wonderful bows. On this trip though I will be using my new Firefly longbow. By the end of the trip I hope to be able to report that a bear was done in by a Firefly bite!

Sorry for the poor quality.
The big one arrived when the games were over.
Next time.
Dan I am sure you'll have a story to tell.
Good going! Really enjoyed looking at the photos you posted of a fine trip. :clapper:
Wonderful story-Congrats Felix! A little Pike fishing really complements a Bear hunt doesn't it?
Another great thread and pics Felix, congratulations on a fine Bruin.
Look forward to reading your next wild boar hunt.
Congrats Felix! Thanks for sharing with us.
Way to go Felix! Glad you had a good trip and hunt.
Congrats. Really enjoyed the adventure, story etc. Great for those of us who can not do such things. Just awesome. . .
Dan in KS
Well done Felix!!! I am really glad everything came together for you. Norm builds his Blacktails not far from where I live. Have you ever hunted in Oregon?
Gregg,I'll be elk hunting on the Eaglecaps in September for my first Oregon hunt.
Congrats on the nice bears!
I think it is so neat that people can come hunt from all over the planet. I have a Swedish buddy that I hunt with; and once I ran into a bowhunter that just shook his head to everything I said.
I figured out he was here from France; and we had a good time talking trad bows and what we could- as he was really limited in his English; and I can only say 'parlay vou- fried eggs; wee wee manure' which falls really short of speaking french.
But our glee at checking each others bows and set ups surpassed the need for language.
I am recouperating from knee surgery and ready to go home and start bear hunting- so thanks for the motivation !
Again - congrats !!
Way to go Felix, I am very happy for you. I bet you are having a wonderful time hunting, soak it all in and take home the wonderful memories.
Congrats and fine shooting! It sure is great to read of more fine friendships formed within the Trad Gang Family. There is hardly a day goes past that a friendship is not formed within this great group. The planet is small when you have Trad Gang buddies!
 Congrats!!!
Ciao Felix,
many congratulations my friend !!!

So, are you going to carve a notch in that Blacktail now?!! :biglaugh:
I stick a decal for every game taken on the lower limb.
Hey Felix, nice bears, great adventure sounds like!! bravo!! Di dove sei? Ho vissuto vicino a Firenze per 13 anni, I now live in the south of Spain, if you are ever in the area let me know, be glad to show you around, shoot a bit and share stories!! well done again!!
Great job, Felix.
Once again Felix, congrats. It was great talking to you onthe phone,to bad I couldn't make it in person.Hopefully next year I'll make it up to bear camp and visit in person.Bye for now,Dell.
Congrats Felix!! It is always nice to be successful especially in the company of non trad shooters.
I am actually going to have the honor of hunting with Steve and his son in Alberta this September.
I have never been so pumped about a hunting trip. And you are exactly right, there is no other group of guys that you can meet for the first time and feel like it is a reunion of sorts.
Take care.
BrianO,for sure you'll have some of the best buddies a man can find.
Dell, thanks again congrats for your real big boy.
Felix, I hope your hunt in the Eagle Caps goes very well. Some friends of mine pack in there and have good success on with bulls. Let me know if you ever need anything while your on the west coast. Greg
