Title: Hammer Head Lites?
Post by: jonsimoneau on May 31, 2010, 08:01:00 PM
Has anyone tried these shafts out of bows in the 45# range?  If so, did you have to use the heavy inserts with them, or did the regular ones work for you.  Trying to get an arrow in the 500 grain range to shoot out of a 45lb. Habu Vyperkhan.

Hey Jon, you might try some Beman MFX 600's. I just tuned some to my 45# TT recurve. With 75 grain inserts, 150 grain field point...i'm right at 480 grains and they fly great!

I recently bought 1/2 dozen of the hammerhead lites to shoot from my 55lb. Bob Lee recurve.  They shoot great.  I love the AD lites as well.  Haven't shot them out of 45lb. bow but if it is centershot recurve you shouldn't have any problems.  They fly like darts for me even bare shaft.

They will shoot fine from your bow, the wt will depend on you arrow length.  It will be easy to get to your wt, you can add Gold Tip wt adapters to the back or the insert, which vary in wt and are stackable.

Like Flingblade said  " pretty hard to overspine a centershot bow , they will work fine as the spine 75# and your bow is centershot 45# with fastflight string, I would put you in a 65-70# spine woody so with the taper and carbon you will be fine.
As Badger said control the weight by length.
