alright, somebody school me on the asbell bighorn recurve models and what to look for in picking a good bighorn. my dad is looking for a 3 pc take down and i have been designated to hunt one.
i have searched with no luck on the different models. i know some have curve bed limbs.
anybody?
I'm not an expert but I used to have a couple Bighorns. From what I know, the older Asbell Bighorns had the curved limb beds. The newer ones had the straight limb pockets. I don't know if anyone still makes limbs for these (someone here will probably know), but I heard that a guy out of Longmont, Co. used to make new limbs for them if you had a riser (sorry, I don't know his name). The Bighorn Bow Company is no longer in business after the last owner died unexpectecly so I assume you are looking for a used bow.
thanks for the info.
I have 2 curved bed bows with 60,65,64# limbs and can't find any lighter ones.Great shooters and hunters.25 years old and I,m 25 years older.I would love to find some, can,t post mine for sale yet only have a few posts.
When I was looking for replacement limbs, the biggest problem I had was that most of the limbs were made in the late eightes, early ninties. That was a time when alot of compound shooters switching over thought you needed 60#'s plus. Every set I could find was between 60 and 80 lbs. Hope you have better luck.
Bighorn is still in business. The new owner makes old style limbs also. Google bighorn bow company.
Rich Burch is running Bighorn Bowcompany now. Its www.bighornbowcompanyusa.com (http://www.bighornbowcompanyusa.com) I think. He is refinishing and checkering one of my BH's now. He does great work.
