So after some interesting weather and a long weekend i got my bear. We hunted thursday(very warm)but didnt see anything. Hunted friday,(a little cooler but still warm. I saw a little one year old bear but just could'nt shoot him. Saturday(Rain storm and had trees snapping all round)didn't see anything. I was back out again monday and had a nice tall and lanky bear come in that i got a good quarteing away shot on. I found him about 60 yards from where the arrow passed through him.
Took these pictures the day after, Rain again, dosent do the bear justice.
The bow is my latest project, bubinga veneers maple core and gray action wood handle, very simple. But a good shooter.

My setup is my usual 500 mfx realtree with 225 grain up front weighing a total of 510 grain.
I tried the magnus stingers for the first time after bending a few of the(Black)mangnus two blades.
My bow is 59"(odd number i know) draws 52 lbs, at 28 1/4, im getting 185 fbs, wich is more than enough shooting a 510 grain arrow.
Sorry i have not measured the skull yet.
Good Job on the Bear, and Equip. Nice way to spend the long weekend even though the rain did put a damper on outside activities.Ken
you bet Ken weather was a challenge in itself. are you hunting bear in Alberta?
Congrats again Tommy,I hope you and Brian have a chance to come back up here and try again on getting his first bear with traditional equipment.Later,Dell.
Thanks Dell, we will hopefully be able to come up again soon. Have you got your sander setup yet? how do you like it.

Those are amazing bears(awesome bear hunt video btw), cant belive the bulk of those bears, the bear i got was quite lanky but tall, would have been nice to see some more meat on him but i think the other bears had been a bit hard on him he had a few battle scars.
Thanks Tommy! Gotta love the scars each bear has...kinda like tattoos. As far as bulk....I'm pretty sure that's just an age thing...seems like us that they put on weight as they age. Can't wait to see what you kill with your own bows this fall!...Ryan
Great bear!!! Congrats.
This is a fabulous story. Taking a bear with a bow you built! Congratulations!
Nice job!
Very nice on both the bear and the bow!
Congrads on the bear and using bow you made yourself makes it even sweeter !!
  :clapper:
Great bears to both of you. I'd rather hunt bears than anything else. Just magical creatures. Know wonder the Indians thought them to be spiritual animals!
