Title: What is a Fred Bear edge?
Post by: Wildschwein on May 25, 2010, 09:59:00 PM
Ok first off just let me say that this is not a post on which we will be comparing egdes (shaving vrs serated vrs ...). I just want to know how to identify the edge that Fred Bear used. Is it sharp enough to grab a fingernail, cut an untaught elastic, or am I missing it all together?

I think it was the filed edge with that lil' burr left on that Fred Liked. I would say it would grab a fingernail, or cut a rubber band.

Was watching a part of the Fred Bear DVD collection from 3RA last night and Mr Bear was filing a Bear Razorhead on the video. I don't remember exactly how he tested the sharpness, whether shaving hair or touching it to a fingenail.

Nice DVD collection by the way for anyone interested.
