Does anybody hunt with poplar arrows??Just getting in the wood scene.Wondering how they compare to other wood sources???
I hunt with gold tips they're very poplar
A few years back when i still shot wood, Troy Breeding (when he still lived in Alabama), made me up a bunch of "heavy" poplar shafts. They were pretty durable...i think my finished weight with a 125 grain snuffer was around 700 grains. i've since made the switch to carbon. i also use gold tips so Daniel i guess that makes them sort of popUlar! lol! :)
I use magnolia which was described to me as yellow poplar. Not as heavy as rastman describes, but very tough and durable.
The shafts I've been using are 23/64 barrell tapered to 11/32 and 5/16.
I've used them before and they were a good hunting weight durable shaft .
