It's Dacite. Too big for an arrow, more like an Atalatl point. I liked the shape so much I stopped while I was ahead.

very cool man
Now that's talent there sir, wish I knew how to do that.
:clapper:
Awesome looking, great job.
WOW, that's nice work!!!!!!
BOB
Very nice
Very nice work! Same shape as some I have found.
Nice head. I'd put that on an arrow. Big stone heads make for short blood trails!
How much does that weigh?
Very nice work BTW
Very nice.

Sweet!!!
Thanks guys. It is super sharp too. I'd love to put it through a deer or hog but I fear it may be too heavy, at 312.5 grains.
Very nice! Did you start with a blank or just the rock?
Nice head, I wish I had that skill level.
I used a blank or slab as I call them. I waste too much rock using a ... rock.
i wonder if you could just really over spine an arrow to get good flight out of that beast. Or if you could somehow split a carbon or put a wooden insert inside of a carbon to attach the point too in order to use it.
REally nice job. I wish I could just knap the flints for my flintlock rifle!
sam
Thank you. I think it would be an awesome atlatl point on an osage or hickory shaft.
aww its not too big for an arrow. those oltimers that where into the high foc made em like that lol. just joking. looks very nice
Maybe it would work on an AVATAR arrow! LOL! I just need an 8 foot bow to shoot it out of. :)
It's a GREAT start Jim!
I'll tell you what!! It's a chore to get points in our comfort range. I knapped a beautiful Agate point that ended up 127gr......YES! LOL!

Man that is nice!
if you can't put it to use i'll have it. i've got some surewoods that shoot 300gr stone points just nicely.
great work by the way. it's good to see some primitive work pop it's head in here sometimes.
not bad to work that dacite hey.
Awesome work! Only my opinion, but thats nice enough to buy a dozen wood shafts that'll take the weight! I'm not a wood arrow shooter, but I WOOD be if I made that!
Good hand and eye coodrination. Great looking point.
Many thanks guys! Yes Dacite is nice to work. It's not as brittle or as dangerous as obsidian but makes a really nice looking head.
Fantastic looking head! I'm in awe of what some of you fellas can do. :notworthy:
very nice!
