Just got the KME broadhead sharpener kit. First experience with the KME. Instructions clearly say and show that the jaw holder should be pushed from the back of the holder to the front. I have not been able to do remove the holder to loosen or tighten the jaws because the little white O-ring type thing at the back will not compress and allow the jaw holder post through. In order to get the post and haw holder out of the unit for adjusting, I have to take off the plastic O-ring. Is this right and or normal. The instructions do not address this at all. I know I can call KME tomorrow, but I thought some of you might know what I'm talking about and may be able to offer help tonight while I have some time to play around with it.
Thanks,
Chuck
The white o-ring was fairly stiff when new on mine as well, I think I had to tap the end of the shaft on the table to get the jaws to pop out. You shouldn't have to remove the o-ring from the shaft. A drop of oil might help as well.
call ron!!he will help!!

Don't remove the O ring. Give us a call and we'll help you out.
Thanks for the responses guys. I did remove the O-ring, because I thought perhaps it was supposed to be seated further down inside a groove in the brass collar. After further inspection I realized this wasn't the case. I reinstalled the O-ring and although it is still a bit stiff and tough on the fingers to push through, it does seem to be working better now. Perhaps with a little break in it will smooth out a bit.

That's correct chuck. The O-ring/brass fitting connection is a bit stiff when the unit is new but will quickly "break-in". Just intall/remove the clamp (with no BH in it) a few times and it should loosen up pretty quick. Give us a call if you have any questions. Thanks!

Thanks for the information Ron. I should have said that this was not my first use of the KME. I meant to say that it was my first experience with a new KME kit. I have used the KME for a while now, with a unit I picked up used. It was very easy to change jaws. With this new unit, it was so stiff that even pressed down on a table top it wasn't pushing through. I thought perhaps some unseen change had been made to the setup. Everything just fine now.
