I think I've found what I like in my bows, period.
Takedowns: Morrison Shawnee (as many of you know...) Three A-riser E-limb (2 foam core, and 1 Carbon foam. (Also have 1 with A-riser D foam core Arapaho limbs.) And just made a trade for a B-riser C foam core limbs which will match the heavier C foam core limbs I have.
One-pieces: Morrison Cougar, have three, 2 60" and 1 62", and the Thunderstick MOAB. I have one 60", and waiting on payment for a bow I sold to pay for another 60" MOAB I have on hold that is the exact same weight (that one is going to Big Jim to get camo dipped in Predator Brown Deception and adorned with a beavertail grip. Oh and I just sent in my deposit for another order with Jim for a bit lighter 60" MOAB...
So, lets see, that makes 5 Shawnees, 3 Cougars, and 3 MOABs. I should be able to pick one to take to the woods out of those, heck I could shoot any one of them exclusively for the rest of my life for that matter. Great bows one and all, and they fit me which is the most important part of the whole equation.
I still like to play, er... I mean check out various designs but it is getting harder and harder to pick a bow to sell to get the $'s to do so... ;) The all carbon A&H ACS-ACX comes to mind... Have to try one of those...
NO, WAIT I THOUGHT I WAS DONE!!! ;)
I've heard this before. :D

I told my wife that the other day and she just laughed!
Been thinking that too! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Dave has heard this from me also, and well, I'm still finding it hard to quit. :banghead: If you can do it, I'd like to know the secret of your success. :D
I've got a Leon Stewart and a Centaur coming this week sometime. When will the madness end?!
I am done thanks to Kurt and Wannabe. It is going to be a Dorado for me. I will have a set of limbs or two,but basically the same setup.
It is a good thing anyhow, shipping costs are getting crazy. It was good I had my checkbook along when I sent these guys bows out today.Yikes!
Craig
I wish I could count how many times I have said I am done. :D You really do have some nice bows.
Yup, from another bow junkie :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh: A big HA HA!!!
I really like hanging out here with you guys who are even more addicted that I am-like being at an all day bowaholics meeting! :wavey:
It's a rare few of us that find "the" bow. I found mine around 15 years ago. I've traded on a few and shot several others since, but it's never crossed my mind to get rid of my #1 and I doubt it ever will.
I won't stop trading--I'm a sucker for a good deal--but the chances of me changing my #1 are slim and none.
I am joining with you too. I am waiting for just two more to get here and the one I have up for sale to move and I'll be finished.
It will be hard but we can do it if we stick together.
Hi my name is Mudd and I'm a Bowaholic. Help me please!
God bless,Mudd
I get kidded a lot for moving in and out of so many bows.
But here in Wheelie Land, getting your hands on a Trad Bow is like finding a skinny girl in Nebraska!
However, I think I have it narrowed down. Today, I got a Mongolian Horse Bow from Mudd. Oooohh, I think my search for the perfect bow is over!
And the search for the holy grail continues.......
Welcome to the club :D

I have coming another Zona T/D Recurve, I need help.

Oh oh & I still want me a Black Widdow PMA T/D.
Im quitting too, I just need three more hits,, uhhh I mean bows and then Ill be done. Now that I think of it its gonna take 5 more and Ill be good.I was good for awhile and a Shrew order came due and off the wagon it was. :banghead:
I thought I was done many times also, but I fought threw it.
I don't want to quit! I refuse to quit! It is unAmerican not to support our hard working bow makers. I'm only doing this out of purely altruistic motives, see. You do see that don't you? Huh? :bigsmyl:
You can't do that to me, Jeff! Who the heck am I going to buy my next bow from or sell my next bow to if you quit?
It's to much fun to quit!!!!!!
Hello... My name is Rod...and... I buy bows...
The intro to the BBC (Bow Buyers Creed)
Jeff, it's not the end that we most desire. It's the journey we seek most. Let the journey continue my friend. :archer2:
yea me too:biglaugh: cheaper than trading wives,i have had one wife in 22 years and 100 bows in three years :campfire: but i am winding down my search as well! let's see how many Hill style bows there are can't be too many :D
Just remember "Winners never quit and quiters never win!"
I got lucky and hit the right bow on the first try. The problem is there are so many wood combinations. My second Royal is being picked up this weekend at the Western States Rondevous. A man has to have a back up bow. Tricia is ordering her third bow / wood combination there. I have two more Royals in different wood combinations in mind that will be ordered over the next 14 months.
When I break the costs down as a payment plan, it costs me $200 a month to keep the wife and I in a new bow every 7 months, and at 0% interest with the bowyer. That is way cheaper than buying a new truck, larger boat, larger house, etc..... I am using my bow purchases to keep my spending in check.
I am not a bow addict, I can quit whenever I want. ;-) Lets not talk about my arrow collection though, that is the real problem!
With our sickness this is just another form of denial ! LOL.
Well I have pretty much narrowed it down to shooting about 6 bows out of the 40 or more I have here. :)
Bowfishing and 3ds that don't allow rest--Tradtech Titan
Hunting recurve and 3ds that do allow rest--- Gamemaster
3d and open country hunting hunting...70" 21st Century
short hunting bow and bad shoulder day bow--turkey creek
2 bamboo/osage bows for hunting and 3ds --62" and 70"
That is pretty much the cream of the crop I have come up with over the last decade. :)Will take something pretty special to replace one of these but the primitive bows are always subject to change when the mood hits to build another. :D
I have been truely blessed to have the chance to own and try sooo many different bows (I honestly can't remember how many bows I have owned in the past...). Their are some that stand out and I wish I never let them go but then again, they paved the way for what's currently on my rack now. I will never stop trying different bows/designs but the current stable must either fund or backfill the $$$ required to purchase the new bow. I have been doing this for some time and it would take a heck of a bow to knock one out of the current lineup, at this point. But I never say never and enjoy the chase.
JL
I'm more of a bowaholic than a businessman so I figure if I donate a bow a year to St. Judes I can pick up at least one more each year. This year's donation is a heavy Asbell Bighorn. Eventually, I'd like to have a rack that I can look at I decide to just give money.

"NO, WAIT I THOUGHT I WAS DONE!!! ( ;) "
Jeff,
Believe it or not, I am done buying and trading bows. The only thing I may do in the future is sell one or two when I get to the point that I can't walk through the woods or walk a 3-D course. Unfortunately, the date is rushing toward me like an Amtrak train headed at me.
I've settled on three bows. With the 150 or so bows I've bought, sold and/or traded over the last 9 years, I've settled on those 3 bows as the ones that best suit me and my shooting style. They are a Schafer Silvertip, a Marriah Thermal and a Dale Stahl. They are all 3-piece T/D recurves. The Silvertip and Stahl are, or will be in the case of the Stahl, 62" bows. The Thermal is 60". The Thermal is 46#@28", the Silvertip is 48#@28" and I'm hoping the Stahl will be in the range of 46-47#@28".
A new set of Russian Olive limbs for the Silvertip arrived last Friday. I haven't been able to shoot it yet because of two biopsies I had performed on my right shoulder and right forearm last Wednesday. I had a biopsy performed on the shoulder about 6 weeks or so ago. It came back pre-Melenoma, so I had to have another one done.
When the first one was done I asked my Doctor what I could do after he completed stitching me up. He told me I couldn't power lift, but outside of that I could do anything I wanted to do and that the pain would allow me to do. I went to The Archery Shop on the following Saturday and took my bow, arrows and shooting glove and armguard, oh year and my stringer.
Before I strung the bow I went to the back of the shop to the indoor range. I stood at the line and went through the draw motion without the bow. My elbow didn't get more than half way through the draw motion and my shoulder screamed at me "Don't do that!!" Now I have two of them to deal with and the one on top of my forearm is actually causing me more pain than the one on top of my shoulder. It is safe to say I won't be shooting my bow until after the stitches are removed and maybe even 10 days after that.

   Yeah right, Jeff
Bill,
Slow and steady wins the race.Let her heal.

Eric
Yeah and I'm from the government and I'm here to help you! LOL Ben
Your all in denial!Face up to it.Look real close in the mirror.Your not done.Whos kidding who here.
Me and a buddy thought we were done and gonna knock it off 4 weeks ago.He bought or traded for 4 more bows since then and I aquired 2 more myself I think?Maybe it was 3?Wait maybe 4?
I am done now though.Yaa, Right!
I was fine until I found this site
That is funny!
Remember This! "Who ever dies with the most toys, wins!"
... mike ... :archer2: ...
Lucky me found miss perfect on the second try (Silvertip TD recurve).
Still looking for miss perfect number two...that's half the fun.
Just because one bow is absolutely perfect, that is no reason whatsoever to quit looking for something a little more perfect. Also, remeber the old bumper sticker..."Who dies with the most toys wins". That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

I've heard that one before :goldtooth:
Well, since I posted this thread I've only tried to trade into two other MOABS.... I think that is a step in the right direction... ;)
I have 8 Keepers all Lefties.
Then I play both Left and Right to try new bows.
I have 12 righties and 18 lefties to sell/trade to try new stuff at the moment. You never know what Bow will be your next "Keeper"!
This is an addictive passion. You WILL fall off of the wagon, you will.
I got to thinking and well... I guess I'm still am wanting to try just a few more.. then I'll swear off... maybe?
God bless,Mudd
My friend, you have an addiction that affects many of us. Don't worry, you are not alone.Oh sure, you say you can quit any time you want. It's not that easy.My advice to you is do not quit. Keep buying bows.Misery loves company. We're here for ya!
Blaa, blaaa, blaaaaa...I've heard this before! I'm sure glad I kicked the habit :) Doc
Opps...
A little change to the overall... 4 Shawnees (all A-risers), 3 Cougars, 4 MOABs, and one 60", 65# @ 29" carbon foam Morrison Dakota 1-piece (Mun Ebony riser and veneers).
NOW I'm done, really.... ;)
Jeff, do you want me to tell? :saywhat:
C'mon, the truth will set you free.
Being a bowaholic I completely understand, the only treatment for this disease to collect as many bows as possible hoping that one will come along that will cure that deep down urge.
That would be fine Mike, I don't think anyone would blame me! Great price on a great bow! ;)
C'mon Jeff...I saw your reply to a Morrison Cougar earlier...yeah, pics, sure. :biglaugh:
Jeff, you didn't even get to try the double carbon foam Dakota limbs.... Might even end up in a 1pcs Dakota or Cougar???? I'll see if I can tempt you with a real looker, fast sweet thing.
That's just plain old mean Bob! But I like it! ;)
I remember when I started a couple years ago, I told my parents that I just wanted a bow to go hunting with. After about half year, they were shocked that I wanted to get another.
Now I have 4. And see no end in sight...
