I am thinking of talking to the president of my local archery club about putting on a trad shoot to benefit St Judes if I can get enough interest and shooters to show up.
Right now we have one shoot a month that is open to all classes but are trying to draw more trad shooters. I would think that if the club would be willing to do it that it could be open to all and not just a trad shoot since it would be for the kids. I have been inspired by the work done here and the generosity of Trad Gang for the kids. Plus if it was open class we may get a few converts LOL
It would be held in Petersburg, IN
If there is any interest let me know and I will try to start getting it put together to have it sometime in the future. I really don't see why it would be a problem for the club as it would benefit them by drawing shooters to other shoots.
Stiks
I will try to make it!
The Southern Traditional Archery Association (www.southerntraditionalarchery.com) puts on a tournament every year to benefit the Catch-a-Dream foundation (www.catchadream.org). We do pretty well with it--no money is spent on trophies, we do an auction, and all proceeds go to the CAD.
I'd check to be sure, but a different club I belong to tried to do a benefit for St. Judes and although they said they would accept the money, they didn't want the St. Jude's name associated with any kind of sport that had to do with weapons and/or hunting (I forget if it was one, the other, or both--I can find out though).
Let me know what you find out Chad.
I would think they would be proud that an archery club would want to do it but you know how the politics go LOL
Thanks guys and so far nothing is written in stone just wanting to see if there is enough interest. Before I go doing alot of foot work. But I will be glad to put it together if there is enough interest.
Chad, Ok now I'm curious. If St Jude doesn't want to be associated with weapons or hunting, how do they reconcile the Tradgang auction? It's all about weapons and hunting gear.
