Well last week ordered a set of Samick bolt on limbs, cheap, $69, and finished up a Frankenstein bow. Was an old PSE Pulsar mag riser compound, limbs broke. $5 investment. I machined out the limb pockets to fit the new limbs, then filled up the pocket voids with caulking, redneck limbsavers dont you know. I made an aluminum plate and epoxied it in on top of the void with a slot machined out for the limb bolt, then glued on a cork pad under each limb. I filled the slight void on each side of the limb with 2 part putty epoxy, put release agent on the limbs and screwed them down, let set overnight. I then cleaned everything up painted her with grill paint, made a new string and put on a bear rest, wool puffs. I set the nock 1/4 inch high, and started flingin arra's. Well the #50 limbs picked up about #4 due to the straight angle of the limb pockets, but it is a hammer, and whisper quiet! Made a 62" strung bow, balances well and shoots extremely well, arrow is a bullet, not play whatsoever. This is the 5th one of these I have made, and though they wont win any beauty contest, they are shooter friendly, very sericeable bows that enable people to get in on the ground floor of trad shooting, for an economcial price. I usually sell them for about what I have in them, to get a new guy started. Just thought I would share.

Very creative, and probably make a transition easier for compound guys. Way to go. Oh yeah... Pics?
-
Where did you get the limbs?
-
Hey Koger, does this qualify for the one of the transformer movies? Great ingenuity.

Thanks Eric-Thor. I have 20+ years experience as a gunsmith/custom rifle builder, so this wasnt that hard, just fun and a no frills economical way to help folks get started in trad in a tough economy. Plus it shoots sweet, fast and quiet.I have already started on another one for a guy, A Darton compound riser, and I will be setting it up to use either the Samick limbs or Quinn limbs interchanbebly. I am not charging the guys anything to do the work, just materials and making free strings.

Nice work and kudos for doing just to get them into the sport.
-
Very cool of you! Nice work also.
-
Got the same limbs on the way for mine! I have the same riser that is still camo, so the fish won't see me!!
-
nice work.
-
Ck I was thinking the exact same thing for a bowfishing rig.
-
What is the brace on this bow?
-
Ditto on the use of koger's bows for a dynamite bowfishing rig!
Great work, man.
-
thats way to cool man.convert all wheel bows on sight.
-
Ckanous the BH is 7 & 1/2 inches. Dead quiet and fast with a 470gr. setup.
-
Sam that is a great looking bow. I just did the same thing with an old bear riser that looks identical to it. I know how well they shoot it is more than a fishing bow. Great job! Thanks for sharing.
