OK, weirdness afoot. Some arrows make a feather fluttering noise. I didn't notice it with 125 grain points, only with 145 grains. What does this mean? :scared:
And you call yourself an engineer.
Obviously, you have gotten older. Your hearing isn't as fast as it used to be.
When your arrow had 125 up front, it was faster, and you couldn't hear it because it was gone before your ears could catch up with the sound. Now that your arrow is going slower, you can catch the noise. Cut your feathers down so the arrow goes faster, and it will seem quiet again.
I find that you can see the noise leave the arrow when you burn the feathers. It goes out with the smoke.
Killdeer ;)
Frank,
Or....it could mean that with "more up front weight" your arrows are simply coming out of the bow with much more paradox to them and therefor the feathers are catching a lot more air in order to straighten your arrows out. With your lighter tips your arrows are coming out of the bow "cleaner" and that is why they may be quieter.
Really?! I thought more weight would mean less paradox?
More weight weakens spine and results in more bending. Right?
Killdeer
Yep. More bending.

Ooops. Double post. My net router dropped offline for a bit.

If you are going to stay with 145's and the feather is a high back or shield you may be able to trim some off the front to give it a lower profile.I had to do it to some I had.
Killdeer-- no, that's not the "noise leaving the arrow", it's an hallucination caused by breathing the God-awful fumes from your Young Feather Burner!
I agree 125% with KILLDEER!!!!
MAY THE SPIRIT OF FRED BEAR GUIDE OUR ARROWS.
