Like many of us, I jumped on the skinny string bandwagon head first. I probably got a couple hundred bucks wrapped up trying 10 strand, 8 strand, 6 strand, D97, TS1, D10...etc from a number of our fine string makers. Some of my bows liked them, some not so much. I was looking for noise reduction more so than speed and found it in a few combinations of bow, strands, brace height, and silencers. But I never really got one as quiet as I had previously with good 'ol B50. So, I had a couple new B50s made up, got them stretched and shot in, put on some Bow Hush/Hush Puppies and aahhh that familiar dull thud. Barely a whisper. My bows like it, I like it and the arrows are going down range plenty fast for me. I think I'll be sticking with the time tested, reliable B50 for awhile.
I've tried the skinny strings and like them. Can't say that I've jumped on the bandwagon. I have so many B50 strings around that I'll stay with them until they wear out. I've a mix of bows and have skinnys on a few of the newer ones.
I have skinny strings on my Shrews(6 strand 450+) and love them tried to switch to a different fast flight string and the bow (and I) hated them!

Burnsie, was these bows recurves or longbows?
Did you try heavier, arrow weights? Without silencers?
I'm not crazy about "skinny", prefer a little meat, for insurance in the field, myself.
If it works for ya, confidence in your equipment, is a good thing.
Good Ole' B50 fer me too :archer2:
Frank Bullitt - All my bows are recurves. I shoot a pretty heavy Grizzly Stick arrow and it definitely helps reduce the noise. Although, not so much that I would do away with the silencers. I recently got a bunch of field points from 3Rivers ranging from 145 grn to 300 grn. I'm going to try beefing up the front weight a littel more and see what I get.
