Title: Anyone Use Cabela's Stillhunter ES1 Rain Suit?
Post by: GrayRhino on January 08, 2007, 02:42:00 PM
I'm looking for some lightweight, compact, quiet, camo, 100% waterproof rain gear that I can wear over layers of warm clothing.  Has anyone used this set from Cabela's?  I'd appreciate your comments, or other recommendations.

As a rain suit this is better than Gore-Tex in my opinion. Quieter and breathes a little better-although none work as advertised. It is fine in the rain but a little noisy if in dry conditions. Also if you start to exert yourself you will get wet from the inside-so what else is new ; right?
This is probably as good as it gets for this type of clothing.

Thanks Bjorn!  This rain gear looks like what I need for this Fall.

I have some older Gore-Tex rain gear, but the outside fabric is terribly noisy, and I'm thinking of replacing it with the ES1 gear.

I've used mine for 3 seasons now,not that often, but when needed it worked very well.Like stated above,if there's much exertion involvedyou're liable to get a little wet inside, but great for sitting in a tree stand.

Most rain gear I've seen has that fine felt texture to it and is noisy when something rubs up against it. My leathery maintenance hands even snag on the stuff. I'd like to see the Rivers West stuff though.
