I had a little down time while awaiting a re-order of ebony. I decided to do a little research and development. I've been meaning to build a two piece take-down. I first retro-fitted an old bow with a sleeve, but was not satisfied. I suppose it's a good system, but I had a lot of trouble getting the two halves to cooperate. I still have to use a vise to pull them apart occasionally!
Here is my first Connexion hinge take down. I like it a lot! I used an overlay to recess the back of the hinge. She is a 68" ntn Sapelo mild R/D longbow. I used bois-de-rose for the riser, maple action wood core, and black glass. She draws 50@28.
I planned on putting mocassin skins on this one, but I'm not so sure now. I can always do it later.

Very nice work and those are some great looking tips, nice job!
Great looking bow...how does it shoot?
Very nice! How about a pic in folded up mode?
Good looking bow!
Sweet
I have a couple of connexion hinge super shrew bows and I must say your application of this device is as nice as I have seen, (better than my own work for sure). Good job.
You can see how I built it in the bowyer's den. Here are a couple of construction shots.

Marty, Marty, Marty what have you gone and done??? Now I have to re do my wish list. Are you going to offer that on all your models? Excellent job of make'n it all blend together....well done!!!!!
I'm still playing around with different systems Ron. I've got to try the fiberglass sleeve next. When I sort out the best system for me I'll share my thoughts. :) I like this one a lot though.
Marty, I would be more than happy to be your field tester on this one for you. Been wanting a takedown anyways and also want to try out one of your longbows. You have the best tips going as well. That riser wood is SWEET. Is your grip any bigger than normal since you inlaid it in the overlay? Perfect weight raqnge as well. Flint
If I wanted to build a smaller grip or one with a higher draw weight I would have laminated the riser. This one has a fairly large grip.
I hope you used Titanium screws. SS screws are brittle-garbage.
very nice bow marty.
Steve, yes these are the super titanium screws that Robertson uses.
Good deal. I made that SS screw mistake!
Awesome! Love that hindge and once you offer it and I save the $$ I will have to order an Ossabow from you.
Marty is a great guy to work with!
Josh
Excellent job ! Your bows are getting nicer with every one you make
Nice work,well done
Nice work Marty!
Mate ..that looks sweet ! good wood glass combo too !
i can feel a t/d Cumberland on the horizon . i really only shoot Hill style bows and i think my favourite t/d is still the connexion hinge .
good job!
Beauty Marty...well done!!
OK Marty I told you I wanted on the list when you built a takedown...so put me on the list :readit: Great lookin' bow. If you need further R&D and want me to run it through a whitetail rut here in IL let me know :)
That is some *fine* craftsmanship right there Marty!
Now that I am shooting LH and settlin' into my draw weight range I am thinkin' about a TD and I am going to add your's to the wish list.
Keep up the great work!
Shoot straight, David Camp
Agree with all of the above.
Nice work Marty.
Keep em Coming.
Really like the red and black phenolic? tips on this one.
Great job on putting the hinge in the handle without creating a bump. I think that's the cleanest one I've seen yet...Great job!
wow that looks great one of the best ive seen.
This one is for sale in the sponsors classifieds.
Nice fit and finish, looks real good
Marty ,you son of a gun....I just used up my bow money at Denton Hill last week.....bad time'n on your part or that bow would be headed to N.Y.
Marty, Man I cannot belive this. I have shot this bow and it is sweet.
I have a one piece in this same model and love it.
I sure hope you know what you are doing. Yea I know you can always build another one.
CJ, It's hard to part with one you've made meat with, but I can't afford to keep them all!
Very nice
