You just got a new custom recurve, what steps (in order) would you use in finding the right arrow. I'm assuming it would be the same for alum. and/or carbon. Keep It Simple Simple (KISS)
Mike,
Give Bob at Whispering Wind Arrows and he'll pretty much get you right on if looking for great wood arrows. Carbons are a little more work. Aluminums are the easiest IMHO. Brian
Pretty simple.
1. Determine broadhead / head weight you plan to use.
2. Get the bow draw weight verified at your draw length - Note draw length too.
3. Determine what weight of arrow you want to shoot. I like 10 to 11 gpp.
3. Verify with bowyer what type of string material you are using and what string count.
4. Verify with bowyer if the bow is center cut, or if out of center how far.
5. Decide on Carbon, Aluminum, or wood.
6. Do not listen to anyone in a compound shop on arrows - call a sponsor here who sells arrows.
8. Provide info to sponsor on bow, type, drawlength, head weight, etc....
7. Listen closely to what the sponsor says and follow their directions closely.
Done - great arrows and little to no headache.

I'll second the above. Then I fine tune by lowering or raising brace along with adding, if need be, 5 grain or more brass weight washers behind the point head.
I've also got to say that Stu Miller's Dynamic Spine Calculator is my choice. Easy to use, it will get you shooting arrows that are perfectly spined for your setup. :archer2:
