Hi guys I'm shooting a Kanati longbow. 58inches in length,and 58#'s @ 29 inches. I'm pulling the bow to 28 inches. I'm looking for suggestions on where to start with arrows of carbon ,aluminum and I think I'd like to try my hand at making wood arrows also. I'd like to shoot a 150 grain head,but I'm open to any and all suggestions on where to start. what spine in wood am I looking for? I'd also like a heavier arrow. For an effective pull of 55# @ 28", and a 29" shaft, I would suggest starting with a 2018 and your 150 grain head. Could be that a 2016 would suit as well, depending on your style.
OK, I am hedging here.
Your Kanati is a high-performance type of longbow, is it cut to center? It likely has a fast-flight string of some sort. That is why I was leaning toward the 2018.

You will be shooting 55-56 lb at 28", and I will assume a 29" BOP arrow. According to the website, the Kanati is cut to center, so add 10 lb, 5 for the inch of arrow over 28, plus another 5 for the 160 gr point and hard string. I come up with a 75-79 lb spine. You might do fine with a 70-74, but it is better to be a bit overspined than underspined. If you are making your own arrows, you can start a bit long and trim them down until you get perfect flight.
Go with a mid weight wood like fir, pine or ramin and you will have no problem getting enuf arrow weight. A 75-79 fir raw shaft will go 450-500 grains or more.

I shoot a Raisin River take down longbow with a draw of 57@29 and I draw 29. With a 30" arrow for Carbon I shoot the Beaman ICS Hunters 400 I have shot this with 160 to 260 gread broadheads with perfect arrow flight. Alluminum I've been a big fan of 2117 for many of the bows I have shot same weight of broadheads (I bleive the 2018 would work fine). For wood I've been shooting 60-65# cedar with 160 grain shuffers. The carbons weigh in at 480gr.8.5gr. per lbs. at 191fps. My cedars 600gr. 10.5 gr. per lbs 170 fps. Allumimum 635gr. 11gr. per lbs. I've never shot this through a cronograph. I have had no problem shooting through deer with either combo. I hope this helps you.

552 grain with 10.1 grains per pound
or
Gold Tip 5575 cut to 29"
5" Fletch with 225 grains up front
533 grains with 9.8 grains per pound.
