I just started shooting a James Berry Argos longbow, and can't quite put a finger on why I'm so addicted to it! It was weird. I instantly liked the way the bow feels when shooting it. All I can say is it's really different from shooting the PSAXs I have.
All my Widows seem a bit tame in comparison to the sensation of longbow shooting. I know you can shoot both styles proficiently with practice, but am I better off sticking with one versus the other? Makes me want to try a PLX.
Any of you guys who switch off have advice?
I shoot various longbows and recurves as the mood strikes. For me it takes a few shots to grove in the difference -- I just call those warm-up shots :>) If you got them, enjoy them.
We have a JDB Renaissance in the family (74#), I shot that too. Loved it!
no advice on the switching, i shoot longbows. i came to give u advice on the other matter that feeling u are talking about. i have the same affliction with James's bows. i have a taipan and an argos. i have the horrible descision to make of which one to shoot. lol i felt the same way when i first picked up his bows. there is something about them. good bows good guy.
Well if your in need of letting go of some of those PSA's i am your man!! ;) getting ready to purchase a widow!!
Hey Shawn I talked to James for about an hour the other day. Nice guy. Awesome bows.......
Well, I hear Widows do pretty well on the used market.LOL

I'm selling my deer rifles first!!!! Curly Bubinga/Rosewood something from Widow here I come......
Well if you get to selling some of those widows just let me know!! :)
I also love shootin longbows, I have a psa as well as a plv and shoot the psa quite a bit better on average but do notice I shoot better if I try to stick with one bow or the other...anymore I mainly hunt with the recurve
The longbow has a romance that is hard to pin down. Sorta like an old girlfriend that hit term limits. Can't seem to get her out of your head. I must admit that I shoot recurves better, period. But when it comes time to plink around or hunting season, I always find myself with a longbow in hand. I have several brands of longbows, however, the plx is a must try if you never have. It shoots as good as any longbow out there. LF
The Longbow Spans the Romance in Archery!
I know what you mean: After shooting a recurve exclusively for 10 years I finally picked up a longbow and just started shooting. I haven't been able to go back to my recuvre since and I LOVE(D) my recurve! There is just something about the longbow! However, for it to truly capture that "romance" for me it has to be a "D" shape, "broom handle", LONGbow. I know that many hybrids will outperform my longbow (as will my recurve for that matter), but these recurve risered "longbows" just don't capture that same feeling for me. Frankly, I wish people wouldn't call them longbows! To each his own though. :D
So many bows - so little time! H
Don't sweat it! It's all good! I just picked up a Morrison Shawnee LB and it shoots right where my curves shoot. No other adjustments needed and/or wanted. Good stuff!

Coincidentally I raised my brace height and switched to a two fingers loose grip and the string stopped biting me all the time too. All in, a great experience.
