Title: Grizzly tools?
Post by: BigJim on May 15, 2010, 07:52:00 AM
I am wondering if any of you out there has experienced any problems with warranty issues from Grizzly Industrial?

I own a few of there tools and have experienced relatively good service on warranty claims until recently.
I say recently, but it is not over yet. My wide belt sander (the key to my bow building) has had 8 warranty issues over the last 11 months and they were relatively quick to repair. Usually only putting me out of work for about a week at a time.
The most recent issue has kept me down for 4 weeks and they have not been able to correct the problem by sending me parts. The warranty ran out while I was waiting for a new motor (they are still honoring warranty, but won't after this is fixed). I requested a new machine and even offered to upgrade by nearly $3000, they said no, they want me to send it back to the factory for repairs. The most frustrating part is waiting 2+ days to hear back from them.

If you have had similar such issues, I would like to know how it ultimatley turned out.

thanks, frustrated--I mean --BigJim

Hi Jim,
I have a 3 yr old griz widebelt,I've run a lot of lams thru,the 3 probs I've had with it are :

A pc in the connection from motor to drum had an Allen screw cast in it and broke.

The conveyor gear broke(my fault, osage that was thicker on back end))

And a 1/4" stud on the oscillating belt that has broken 3 times(vibration I'm guessing)

They have replaced all parts when under warranty pretty quickly.

Good luck,I know the big sander is priority when making a lot of bows.
