What is the best kind of wax for makeing strings, and best place to get it.

Thanks

I like the stuff that 3 rivers is selling these days. Its just sticky enough to do a good job of holding the bundles together.

Wax toilet seal ring works well. Some add more pitch to it.

I just use bowstring wax.  I also have bees wax but that was kinda clumpy, that browning bowstring wax is pretty good.

I buy the wax that Kustom King sells.

I can tell you what DIDN'T work for me. This stuff called Black Lightning. Didn't hold the strands together and made it very difficult to twist. I ended up with some Bohning wax, and the difference was amazing.

I make my own.  1/3 toilet ring and 2/3 beeswax.  Melt it together and pour it into bathroom sized dixie cups. fill to about an inch thick and peel the rest of the cup off.

One toilet sealing wax ring, melted together with a pound of pure beeswax. (That is a new sealing ring, BTW!   :smileystooges: )

I pour the stirred conglomeration into medicine "shot" cups (about 2 oz each) and you can pop the wax right out of the cup, if need be.

most any kinda commercial sticky wax will do the job on bowstrings.

my fave is either beeswax with a little paraffin wax added, or just pure beeswax.
