Is honeylocust worth messing with for a bow, wood. I,ve recently hit the jackpot on osage but the prop. owner would be ticked pick if i also use some of the h.l. . And im talking about the ones with all the nasty thorns on them.
Hey Joe,
You might get faster replies if you post this on the Bowyer forum.....
I just finished a 62", semi-bending handle, 50# bow made with Black locust. It was a little tricky because the piece I had was quite twisted and uneven grain----but it was fun and now that it is a shooter----even better!
I like it a lot for laminations and riser wood. Tough and colorful with good grain.
I keep several planks of it on hand for laminations. It makes a fantastic contrast with any dark wood... i.e. walnut or zebrawood back, HL belly. Decent corewood as well. No knowledge of it re selfbows.
