During the off season I have been lucky enough to have a friend with a boat and we go Bowfishing a couple of times a year off the No. California coast. Here are some pics from a couple years ago of Leopard sharks. The Big guy is John and next to him is his son -in -law Neil. They have been great friends and very generous to let me tag along. Nice catch for one day ... Hey!!!! :clapper: :goldtooth:

Does anyone else Bowfish?
Those are some great looking sharks! I'm thinking a skin like that would make for a great backing...

Looks like fun.

Now they are some pretty fish.Do you shoot em during a spawn or are they always about?
Looks like a great fight!!!
just took up bowfishing several weeks ago. I have been a couple times already. I went out saturday and had a hard time getting in the groove, by the afternoon I was hitting my stride and started poking holes in fish just as I was about to take another one I draw back and CCRRAACCKK!!! busted a limb on my brand new Martin Jag T/D. If I new how to post pics on this here website I would post a pic of the damaged limb. I think all is well I talked to Martin this morning and they will warranty the limbs.I know this is a little long winded BUT Bowfishing is very addicting!! probably will go out again this weekend!!
Looking forward to my first trip ever in the next few weeks- still a little cool in upstate NY, going down to 25 tonite
Oh yeah great pics.
Bowfishing is a great sport. Plenty of carp in these parts. Was just wondering, what does everyone do with their fish?

When it comes to carp in Montana, it is perfectly legal to stab the air bladders and throw them in the lake. It is preferable that this is done in the middle of the lake (assuming you have a boat). Great feed for the rest of the aquatic animals.
Carp are great in a compost pile. I do organic gardening and there is no better material than fish to make great soil. You do have to cover it to prevent animals from digging it up.
For those of you who don't like wasting an animal this is a great way out. It's a little more trouble than just throwing it back in the water, but it's a good use for carp and other trash fish.
