If I see ya up there, you have to promise to let me try out your Lost Creek.

If you can't make the High Country trad shoot (try and make it), the CBA Jamboree is pretty good and probably 50% trad.  For the front range, CTAS and Golden High Country Archers are doing a trad shoot Aug. 7th in Golden.

No Problem!. One of the things i've noticed about trad archers is that when you say to them "nice bow", the first thing they say back is "want to shoot it?". I want to be one of those guys.

Beware, to shoot a Lost Creek is to want a Lost Creek. I have Chad's phone number for ya...

Ya I hear ya, I am definatly one of those guys....In fact that is how Mark (kadbow) got to have his love for Shrews...LOL

I have only to get a few more bucks and Chad will be getting a phone call from me!

Is there a camping ( I have a pretty big camper) area available?  Cost for camping /shoot fees, etc.

Post by: kadbow on May 12, 2010, 12:22:00 PM
Gene,
The shoot is June 24-27, you can show up early if you want to help get things set up.  There is great camping for tents to big rigs.  We are actually trying out a slightly new location this year (a couple miles away from past locations).  The shoot is located north of New Castle/Silt on 245 Rd.  We are hoping to have a registration form and map up soon on the CTAS website  www.colotradarchers.com (http://www.colotradarchers.com)   .  We will have six ranges, all rinehart targets, novelty ranges/shoots, unlimited shooting, kitchen, vendors, raffles, free chili and dogs dinner and lots of friendly people.

I am making plans to be there I hope that it works out. Do you need to be there on froday or can you shoot on just sat and sunday?
Title: Re: Colorado Shooters
Post by: kadbow on May 12, 2010, 05:31:00 PM
You can just shoot Saturday and Sunday.  Most of the shooting is for fun but we do have two ranges that can be scored for competition (first time thru) and the kids can score if they want as well.  Also, stop by and say hey, I will be selling hats, shirts, etc. for a good bit of the shoot.

Wow, I will be in Silt on a vactation with my wife during this shoot! Guess I'd better bring my bow. I'm guessing this is open to anyone? I looked it up the website and the form says for "member". I just want to make sure it's open to everyone.

We are going out there to visit family and fish. My wife fish's like I hunt. Only she is more successful  :)

Any other tibits of info would be appreciated since I'm coming from three states away.

Thanks,

Craig

I haven't been keeping track but normally there are a few bowyers, a few arrowsmiths, a few everything under the sun guys.  I know Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear will be there with all supplies and a bunch of bows.  Day One camo will be there and of course hardcore will be there this year.  Courses are being layed out this weekend if anyone wants to help and help setting up, taking down, and during is also appreciated.

Well, I'm planning to come and bring the two bows I won last year in the Compton Dream Raffle from Ron Foley (among others).

I sent my registration in a couple of weeks back.  Only problem is I was on my way home from the Front Range on Sunday when my 6.0L Diesel Ford truck had a problem just outside of Del Norte.  It's still under warranty and will hopefully be ready to pull my pop-up up to NW Colorado next weekend.  I hope so.  Last year was my first CTAS shoot and my wife and I had a blast.

To the members of CTAS-
What a great event! I'm pretty sure I met kadbow and steadman and bought stuff from each. While I could only attend on Saturday, it was a blast. The best courses I've seen to date. The 3 arrow, Fred Bear, Alaskan, orange, pink, green courses were the most fun I've had in a long time.

Didn't bring enough arrows for the Iron Man. Good job guys and gals!!!! I may have to plan next years vacation to include the whole event. I met some great folks and never had to wait to shoot. Even shot some courses twice. My only regret is I didn't plan ahead to spend more time.

Thanks again for your hard work in setting it up and organizing it.

Here are 2 of my sons on Thurs night, we all hit this bou good.
This is my oldest, he thinks he is 20, as most teenage boys do, but he can grow enough facial hair to almost pass it off. He has great form and this year will be his first year at bowhunting.
This was my best shot all weekend. One of my boys says as we aproach the wolves "Dad, don't let that wolf snarl at you like that!" I tell him ok I will kill him on the spot. Right between the eye's, and I even ment to. A blind squirel finds a nut every once in a while. The boys couldn't stop talking about that one. I will get some more up later tonight.

Well Dang it all to heck!!!!  Another year goes by and I missed the CTAS!  :banghead:

I had all my plans in order to go, but then found out that I might be closing on a house that Friday so I put my efforts into that venture, thinking I would be in the house during the weekend.....Weeeellllll that didn't happen!!!!

So I was stuck changing my plans again and spent much needed time fishing....LOL

Looks like you guys had a great time as always and I am surely sorry I missed it, was really looking forward to meeting some of you.

Well, I got my truck fixed at Ford in Durango on Wednesday and my wife and I left at 5 am Thursday morning to head out to the shoot.  We needed a part for our camp trailer in Colorado Springs and we wound up spending almost 12 hours getting to the shoot and seeing more than half the state on the way up there.

To Mark, Jim, the rest of the board, and the volunteers:  Thanks for the incredible effort you guys put in to pull this thing off.  It was my second year to attend the shoot and I'm already planning for next year.  It is a tremendously fun shoot and I had a great time meeting more new folks and some old friends from last year.  The weather was just about perfect this year.  Best of all, my wife has really enjoyed shooting with me and we did four of the courses together on Friday and Saturday.

Ryan, I did stop by your booth and said hello.  I didn't invest in a shirt yet, but one day soon I'll have to get one.  I spent all my money with Mark.

Now my next goal is to make it to the CTAS Banquet next winter.

As others have said, Thank you to the CTAS members and officers who worked hard to make it an enjoyable weekend for all.  I had a great time - even though the 3 Arrow range almost did this old flatlander in.  Still can't believe my son-in-law did the 3 Arrow course with my 10 month old granddaugher on his back - and I thought my recurve was getting too heavy to carry!  Thanks again for putting on such a great event.
