I checked at 3:15 Central Time and me nor my brother were drawn, who got lucky?

I'm not going elk hunting in KY

I got left out once again!!!!  Who are the lucky ones??????

Me or the wife didnt get drawn, but since she did last year I really didnt expect to, I am not that lucky!

My son and I donated again this year....where is TJ...he probably got drawn.

The wife and I donated another 20.00 to a worthy cause,maybe next year.  :(    :(

I missed again also.  

I'll try again next year.

I did a quick count of replies on here.  So far there are 22 of us that struck out.  Last year's odds were about 47 to 1.  If we can get 25 more of us on here, we should be able to find someone that got drawn.

What about it guys?  Surely someone got lucky this year.

There were almost 45,500 entries for 800 tags. Maybe next year. I was just telling Lowebow that I'm glad I didn't get drawn. If I were to kill one then I'd be out another $1200 from my taxidermist and no where to hang it. LOL.

After applying since the beginning. I finally drew a tag. It's a cow, but I'll take it anytime.

With a push of a button I was let down. Now I will still keep my fingers crossed for my moose permits in New England.

Thanks guys, I've decided to go primitive for the first time on this hunt. I'm starting from scratch so I'm afraid I'll have tons of questions for you.

well its a good thing groundhogs aint on a draw at least i can hunt them

Does KDFW use the 'preference points' system for the elk draw?

No preference point system in place.  If there was, most of us would be at the top of the list by now.

Don't know if there is even any discussion of it.

Way to go screamin!  When you say primitive are you talking selfbow and wood arrows?

Yes, that's the plan as of now. I'd like to go selfbow, wooden arrows, and flint tips. The only issue will be the selfbow being my first bow making attempt. But I will have a backup bow that I will be shooting throughout in case I can't get one made that will do the job. I've got from mid.Oct.-mid.Jan. to fill this tag so time is on my side. Another thing I have going for me is the fact that I've been guiding elk hunters here since 2003.

I kind figured that was you....but screennames get pinched all the time.  I don't visit the KY site much anymore...Congrats again and wishin you the best!

That is awesome, please take us along with photographs. From making your gear to the hero shot, pictures tell a thousand words.

And remember there is no such thing as good or bad luck. Luck is the point in time where preparation meets opportunity. Wow that was heavy, I need to sit down.    :rolleyes:
