Hi, I'm Bernie, and I have an Addiction....
I am proud and happy - no, delireous, to say that I do now have an Anneewakee Addiction Bow in my hot little hands. Oh, you didn't seriously think .... of course you didn't ;) . I am currently shooting one that is a little heavier than I normally would pick but it had everything else I wanted (54" in Black), and I hope maybe it will help "strong" me up just a tad. If not, we'll fall back and regroup. So far I love the way it looks and acts. I, of course, do not draw it to that 50# @ 28" that it is rated, and propably never will. However it only cut my draw by one inch on the first day it arrived (yesterday), so I have fond hopes "we" will settle in back at 26 - 27" draw together. We will continue to work on my consistancy together also - LOL. The first time out I had some great shots at 20yds and under, and all the rest were on the targets, some even quite close to where I wanted them. I also center punched a deer sillouette on my range backdrop, at 40 yards, once - after two preliminary "bracketing" shots that is - :D (Well, I'm not so awfully great, you know.) BUT - the Addiction is everything I (and many others) have come to think, say, and expect. There will be pictures of this bow, (when the sun comes back out better again  ) later. BUT I couldn't wait to brag about my new Addiction (aquisition) - Anneewakee, that is, brother!
Thanks for the fine service and assistance, sponsor John Dill (and my compliments to the bowyer, Lee Hoots). Can't hardly wait 'til this Pm,s Shooting session :jumper:
He builds a fine bow for sure! Congrats to you on your new addiction!~ :clapper:
Good for you. Every man should hold something in his hand that makes his heart race. The addiction just grows & grows though. Good luck having a long relationship with her and enjoy the way she shoots.
Good man Bernie, to admit you have an Addiction. Thats the first step toward recovery.... of your next kill! :archer2:
Congrats Bernie. Looking forward to the pics.
Thanks guys, and a hearty LOL for owlbait, to boot. Should be able to get some pics this PM - looking pretty good out there now.
Congrats Bernie!! A Fine Bow for a Fine Man!! :archer2:
Thank you Shakes, I appreciate that.
I got to take some pictures this afternoon, just befor my shooting session. There's a little (cropped) repetition but I did that to cut out some of the extraneous scenery for you - don't guess anyone will complain about more pics. The bow is not one of the "dressier" (beautiful) Anneewakee Addictions but bear in mind it is a "stealth" (my word) model for hunting. Black, 54 " long, 50# @ 28", stippled handle, protector on the bottom tip, Aprox 8" brace. Easy drawing, quiet, peppy, and behaves extremely well - (when I behave half-way decently - LOL) I'm impressed, just as I was with the ones of John Dill and Don Baten that I was fortunate enough to shoot befor that fired me up. Let's see, anything else I 'm missing ... oh, LOL I truly have no idea what the materials are. It just dawned on me that I didn't even think to ask John. I'm sure if he comes on he will be able to tell us. (I don't think I've ever done that before - I was really ready for an Addiction bow - LOL)
So far I am just calling it, "The Black" (original, huh?)

Oh yes, I even managed to sneak in a picture of my wife, Rose, without her knowing it - LOL (She's the one who makes all those beautiful hand crocheted afghans you'll see on the St. Jude Auction forums - and the one who keeps me out of trouble - most of the time - wink)
A couple more pics in the next post.
Here you go, other side:

:biglaugh:
Congrads. Bernie!!!! How did you talk John out of BLACKIE?? Hope you enjoy her!! She has a gaboon ebony riser with 3 lams. of action bamboo in the limbs. Hoot
Ah, thank you for the materials stats, Lee - that action boo is were all her extra zip comes from, eh?
(It was an easy decision for John, I threatened to tell the whole Trad Archery world where he was heading the last time my "cuz", the undercover cop, picked him up sleep walking in Greenville.)

Got yourself one beautiful bow there Bernie! That Full-Draw shot is a keeper too. Enjoy--Shoot Straight--Congrats!! :notworthy: :clapper:
Sweet looker Bernie.
Bernie i can't believe that you don't have on your hat in your full draw picture.I thought the only pictures of you without your hat was when you posed for playgirl  LOL Just kidding buddy good looking bow there.I hope it works well for you.Lee makes some fine bows.
Beautiful classy bow  :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
F-Manny
That's a fine looking bow for a fine fella! We'll have to check it out if you make it to Sissipahaw in a couple of weeks...
Hope to be there Wally, with Don (batman), if all goes well.
Thanks for looking, and for the comments, everyone. Preston, When I get my wife to agree to take a pic for me I better get my butt out there befor she changes her mind (she's always afraid she'll mess up - and never does). So if I don't have my hat on when she says yes, I go nekid, baby - LOL
good lookin bow bernie. im sure its a shooter ruddy
Oh so sweet Bernie!!! Congrats to you!!!!
Bernie
Its a 12 step program with this new "Addiction" you have. Testing shows....there is no cure though. Constant practice will only make the situation worse. You will have a craving to shoot more!(LOL) You have completed your first step.(LOL)
I think you should show up at the 3-D shoots in a black suit....kinda Johnny Cash style. I think it would complement you and the bow.....and would keep the ladies swooning.
Glad your enjoying your new bow!!!!! I'm glad we teamed up with Lee Hoots to offer the Anneewakee Addiction. He's one heck of a bowyer and a fine fella. Lee and I will be under the big 20 foot tent at the state shoot this year with plenty of bows and quivers.
I feel the Addiction, John - LOL (I'll promise to keep working on the continuing "cure")
Come to think of it, I used to wear black a lot - jeans and/or dress trousers - maybe that's why the women always seemed to be "sleeping" around me - Nawwww
(I think Rose got rid of all my black cloths though - ;) )
man i like that profile. sweet looking recurve!
Bernie,
That is a great looking bow. Congrats.
It is sweet too joe vt - really spits those arrows out (is "spitting" an "oxymoron" to sweet? - LOL). Also she calls me to practice like the Sirens of old used to call/sing the sailors to wreck on the rocks. Only difference is I'm supposed to go to practice, so she's a "Sweet Siren" :D
Thank you, smokin joe.
Wow, I really like that bow!
Bernie, Congrats on a Fine looking bow. Outstanding form also.....
bernie, nice bow. I hate to tell you this but I've had her. She stayed with me for a week or more awhile back. Great shooting bow. Just already got one and could'nt justify the $ at this time. DB
Lookin good Bernie!
Bill
Bernie
Don't listen to that ole Batman. No body has owned your lady in black before. Shes not that type of girl.(LOL)
LOL - just breaks my heart, John, that a nice guy like Don (The Batman , a true hero after all) would slander any lady like that, especially The Lady of a good friend - I'm gonna tell Trish (his lovely wife, and another good friend) on him. She'll straighten him out in a hurry. :biglaugh:
Bernie, Keep that ol batman away from her!!!! she is one of my daughters you know and i'm trusting you to take care of her!! :biglaugh:
Very nice! Congrats, and shoot it well!
Bernie, wish I lived closer to ya. You could teach me how to put on those string silencers. I have such grief with those things!
Very nice looking bow too! :clapper:
thats a great looking bow!
Thanks guys. I spent some time yesterday evening just soothing her - in case the "talk" had traumatized her. I thought about singing her an old Irish lullaby but i was afraid my "singing voice" would send her into convulsions -
Although either Lee or John put "The Black"'s silencers on her, I never have had any trouble with any I put on and would be glad to show you if the chance arose. Oh, I take that back - one time I put some on a bow and the first time I took it out, one of them unraveled like I must have put it on the wrong way, or the beaver/mink had come back to life. I never did figure it out - I just put another one on, and it worked fine.
Oh Bernie, Bernie, you've been lured into the DARK SIDE!!!.
First you sell Killy your glass bow to delve strictly in to the world of all wood/self bows. We had high hopes for you that the soulless call of fiberglass and epoxy would fall harmlessly to the ground and never penetrate your consiousness again. And for a time you entertained us with build alongs of osage bows, white wood holmegard designs and wood shavings. But, alas, a single glass splinter coupled with a Smooth On shard must have festered under the skin too close to the heart. You, O might warrior, have fallen once again to the infectious pull of the modern bow. The Humanity Of It All!!
Well, don't feel too bad, I made my own fg bow for the first time last month, so I must own up to the weakness, as well.
Hope this new girl, Blackie, and you get along wonderfully. The possums best watch out!
:saywhat: Don't loose heart, and congrats on your first lam/fg bow build. (Seriously, I'm flattered you remember all that - does my heart good :) .
Nice looking bow Bernie!
Very nice and good story enjoy.
BTW, Danny Bows, I did (shamelessly) add that Full Draw to Traditional Bows Drawn section of my web site, on Page 20 of that section (see link below - LOL)
Gotta make Page 21 very soon now - over 1,000 trad Bows at full draw by your friends and mine.
Ooops, I ment the link was "above" - click on the little house, remember? :D
cool bow Bernie,good luck. :wavey:
Can you believe that? Our very own Batman gloating right in your face Bernie. That cheating hoodrat.I wonder if him and John ran a train on her before you got it??I guess it having a little experience ain't gonna hurt anything in the long run.LOL.I hope Blackie isn't scarred too terribly bad from the long nights in Craven County.See yall fellas this weekend.
I'm lookin forward to this weekend. I'll be bringin "Blackies" cousin. Ole Jeb.....
Bernie, I promise that if you post that pic of you in the Scottish Quilt again this year, I'll bid it up and you won't even have to send it and pay shipping. :goldtooth:
OK, it's not a quilt, it's a squilt.
Not trying to make you mad but if you post it, I promise to start out the bidding at hundred bucks for the kids. If Killie posts it first, my offer is 35.
Show me where your skirt, (whoops sorry about that) heart is.
Thank you for your moral support and compassionate understanding to me and The Black, Preston ;)
Well, Bowferd, I do thinK I hung on to it (just in case I - or someone else had a relapse), 'cause the one who won it last year didn't have me ship it either (- was that you too?). I'll have to look in my "Glory Hole" room, as that is surly just too good an offer, for the kids, to pass up. ("Squilt", huh? Cross between Kilt and skirt - :saywhat: ;) )
YES! My records show that was you - bless your heart, Bowferd. I have some bussiness to take care of in town this AM but i certainly will try to meet your dare - er request this PM - :biglaugh:
Anything for the kids of St. Jude!!!
OK, Bowferd, I did still have it and it is already posted (in all it's glory) in the St. Jude Listing Forum.
Oh-oh, I just reread Bowferds post and saw it reads, "if you post that pic of you in the Scottish Quilt again this year,". OK so now I must look on some Discs and see if I can find a "file" of one of those. I have copies but they are printed on regular paper - not too good for scanning. All Right! I still say anything for the Kids. Give me some time now - don't be too quick to outpost me, Killie, though i know you love to do that. It's a difference of 35 to 100 bucks for the kids this time - LOL. You know I'm game (and sometimes a little "gamey" too). If you want to help, you can e-mail me one of your files - I know you have them, Killie - LOL. I'm going to look at photo Discs now!
Dibs.
Killdeer :readit:
LOL - Dibs on what, Killie, the Anneewakee Addiction Bow, from the first part of the thread, or the Retired Outfit, from the later part??? :D
The bow, of course!
You'll never see me volunteering to wear a skirt. :archer:
I got your back Bernie.I can't wait to see Blackula in action this weekend.
OK, Killie, I got it straight now - ;) You'll like it when you see it I'll bet (at ATAR, good Lord willing).
Thanks, Preston. I'm still struggling with consistancy and accuracy but the little tough girl shur can spit out the arrows and we are getting "tighter" every day. I might learn how to shoot one of these days.
Bernie
Stay with it good buddy. Blackie will do the rest.
I know she is a better shooter than i am most of the time, John. - but she does keep me inspired to do better all the time (she's such a "looker" in my eyes). I just gave her a new Serving yesterday (my carbon nocks were just a tad tight) and a new string nocking point, as I prefer, so she's feeling pretty spiffy. You know how the ladies like a new dress or pair of jeans - ;)
Bernie
"Shes used to wearin pearls....and partner theres a lady wearin tight fitten jeans....
I'm talkin about Bernies bow Killdeer (LOL)
You n' Conway huh, John? She'll have to get unused to Pearls (with an ol' retired Marine) but I'm sure she feels like she has the tight fitten' jeans on, with the new serving -
I'm fixin' to take her out for a leisurly "drive" around the back yard and shooting lanes, in a few minutes here. Anybody wanta come along - ah, it's probably too late to get here now, but yer all welcome if you could - :p
