The weather was warm, the wind mild, and carried with it a hint of seabreeze.
Green grass and flowers swayed gently as me and a friend packed up for a full day of roving, fishing and eating!
We strapped on our backpacks and started walking. Through small streams, over grassy fields with the occasional stump to shoot at.
After some walking we stopped by a pond/small lake to cast some lures, when I suddenly found out I had left my new Whip in the car.
I got his carkeys and started running back. After what seemed an endless run I got to the car,
opened it and grabbed the sock with the bow in it.
As I grasped I could not believe what my hand felt. The clinch made two pieces of wood slip slowly from one another.
I opened the sock, and the bow had delaminated due to the heat!
I was so shocked, but relieved to find that 5 seconds later I woke up, in my bed at home!
Never been so happy to have a nightmare, so I'll be watching the heat this summer, if it ever comes!
That's a nightmare for sure. A dream you hope never comes true.
Yes, the evil one loves to play head games... sometimes while we sleep and sometimes while we're awake.
You got me!!! Hahahahehehehe :biglaugh:
Damn, you got me hook, line and sinker! Lol!
Bummer. Fooled me. I was already feeling sorry for ya.
Good yarn.

I'd contact the bowyer. That shouldn't happen even in a dream :biglaugh:
Those are my favorite dreams actually. So vivid you don't realize they're not real-then you wake up and are SO relieved you carry a smile for the day! Pleasurable dreams are horrible when you wake up! Don't even ask me about my dream where I had just married Michele Pfieffer and we'd just started our honeymoon-when I woke up I had to skip shaving for fear I might do something drastic! I'm still not in a good mood after that one! :biglaugh:
I was going to say it has not really even been that hot in Houston,Texas until this last week, so I was going to say that would be weird for Norway.
dude, that was harsh. I, too, was panicing for you.
BUT, it is a good reminder for us to avoid such a situation. Only problem is, if I bring my bow in to my office in case the car gets hot, they'll know why I'm leaving early! :)
Good one. Got me hooked. I was wondering about that much heat in Norway. Isn't it still winter up there?
Man,,you got me good there,,,bet your a top camp fire companion :)

Whew!! Glad it was a dream!
I just woke up a little while ago. I was dreaming I was bowfishing and got a big fat trout. I can still smell the river. :D
  For about a week I have been wanting to use this emoticon! You got me too.
Good GOD man don't do that you nearly gave me a heart attack, which is what I would have if I had left my bow in the hot truck to come back & find it like that.
At the Chester, TX "Stickbow Round-Up" a couple of years ago, a fellow archer left his strung recurve leaning against a tree in direct sunlight, while he went inside for the noon day drawings, etc. When he returned to retrieve his bow it had delaminated. That was one sick archer.
Rest assured you do not have to leave a bow strung in a hot car for the heat to take its toll. I've never seen that happen before or since, but it got my attention. I expect the bow had a problem that was magnified by the heat, but whatever, it still happened. :banghead:
I SOOO want to bring up a certain thread here..but all I'll say is ya got me too.
Sorry for scaring ya'll half to death, but I was so relieved to wake up!
Felt I had to tell it this way to let you guys in on my pain that night!
Though I'm guessing I'm not the only one with such an experience.. It just felt sooo real!
I remember the heat from the sock, the feel of the texture as I graspe, the feel of, heck, everything!
@ Lechwe : I doubt Toelke has guarantees for inflicted nightmares ^^
@ Bill : I hope no one gets to relive that one!
I remember my friend accidentally dryfired his Tomahawk when an arrow slipped of the string!
I was shaky for half an hour afterwards..
We love our bows too much :p
Made me sick for a moment.Glad it was only a bad dream.

Well, am I the only one he didn't get?!?.........................I confess, I cheated and read the bottom line first!
I used to get real nervous years ago at work when I would carry my wheel bow(good riddance!) in the car when we were shooting a summer outdoor league after work. Never had a problem with it blowing up but I'll be dang if I'm gonna take that chance with my beloved recurve!
Ya got me!! But thanks for the reminder to get mine out of the truck which I forgot was in the truck until after I got off work today.
Good one!!! Glad it was a dream!
Benjy
Nice story Svein, you really got me there! Especially when a Toelke is involved... Though I own not one, I seem to have a kind of weakness for them....
Well my nightmares are about me making a poor shot to a beautifull animal. But as the summer has just began here i thing i would see some variation of your nightmares too :scared:
shoot straight and never get to live your bad dreams
Just happy to hear that I'm not the only one who has such dreams (or nightmares!). I will be getting a new bow soon though, so I expect the worst...

See, something good came out of it. Maybe that was why I had the dream in the first place? In that case, I'd rather you remember to take out te bow next time, so my dreams will be more pleasent :)
