Title: kota praire swift question
Post by: hunterbob on May 02, 2010, 06:50:00 PM
I just picked up a kota praire swift on a trade and was wondering if anyone knows the recomended brace for a 62" 54#@28" bow would be.It was at 8" when I got it but alittle on the twangy side so I took it up to 8 1/2 it helped alittle but still alittle twangy and that is with 4 sets of wool silencers and a d-97 string on it.do you think a B-50 string would help out?

The bowyer recommends 7" as measured from the back of the riser above  your hand or grip. I used 3Rivers recurve pads and TradGang hush puppies and string silencers. I located the slincers 25 % of the lengeth of the contact length (at the  recurve)of the string. My bow is fairly quiet (with 10 grains per lb  of bow wt. arrows). My Praire Swift is 60", 54lbs.@ 28"draw.
It has 16 strand fast flight string with padded loops.

Is that 7" from the deepest part of the grip? or 7" from the arrow shelf? that would be the top of my hand

I talked with tim the guy that builds the kota's he said he prefers 7 1/8 from the back of the grip and that makes it 8" from the deepest spot on the grip.
