I got a summit viper climber and it seems as thought it is not the best one to have, obviously because the bar is in front. I was just wondering what you guys hunted out of. The lone wolf is nice but super high dollar. Thanks for your input

I had the viper too, like you said the bar is in the way. I bought the summit razor top. you sit and climb then the bar folds down under you butt and out of the way. I ordered just the top part from summit for around $150.00 The viper and razor both use the same bottom. Go to summits website and check it out.

I bought a viper and like everyone here, didn't care for the bar either. I gave that stand to my son as I feel better knowing he has a safety rail besides he has taken three deer from it so far. I picked up a API bowhunter stand at a garage sale for 75 bucks and it turned out to be the best money I have spent on a stand.

Summit Open Shot. Used to be called the Bush Master. Great stand, very comfortable, and affordable.
I agree that the tree walker is the absolute best climbing stand on the market.They arent a big company.Its a father and son operation out of Tennesse.I use the model with the front bar around it.And hunt with a 62" bow and havent had a shot yet that couldnt be made.The deck is long enough to get you away from the tree for shots behind you on either side.It has a net seat that will slide all the way back. So you can get it out of the way while standing and leaning against the tree.The best part it only weighs about 14 pounds and carrys like a dream.Ive tried all the above mentiond stands and none of them approach the utility of the tree walker. Ive had 6 or 7 buddys buy them after trying mine.

I use the Lone Wolf hand climber and LOVE IT. The Summit open shot looks good too. I just love the way the Lone Wolf packs and how quiet it is.
Thanks fellows, dad has a treewalker and he loves it, i guess i will try it out now that he uses Lone Wolf with 60in widow.
I bought an Open Shot Deluxe top to mate with my Razor's bottom platform, which is 4" deeper than the one that comes with the Open Shot complete stand. I think I've found the perfect climber for trad bowhunting!
I have had an older summit with the hand climber, and an old man climber(old stuff). Hands down my Lone Wolf sit n climb is the best stand. One thing I hated about the others, as well as any of my cheap hang on stands, noisy when the temps drop. The LW is silent and rock solid.
I like my lone wolf sit n climb.
I just learned to adjust my bar so, when standing, it hits me above the knees and I put my legs against it--keeps me from hitting, even with my 72" selfbow.
I'm interested in that Treewalker though...
