I think a lot of it might be "comfort buying"
Many people have a strong urge to buy something nice for themselves when money is tight...myself included.

Of course a bit of those bows may have been ordered 18 months ago before the SHTF.

Could be the economy is a little better for some, but I have another thought on it too. Even though we north Texans haven't had our first 100 degree Summer day yet, our Fall hunting season starts in only four months (September for doves, October for bowhunting deer/turkey ...  we chase hogs year-round). Some folks might be getting that new bow now so by the time the leaves drop they will be breaking nocks with it. Whatever the reason, you are sure right CEO, there are some mighty fine looking bows being shipped around right now.  :archer:

Maybe bow buying is contagious and a epidemic is sweeping across the nation. I do feel like I'm coming down with something. I can't stop looking at bowyer's web sites.

Sorry to hear that barebow, I think people started tightening their belt and stuffing money away and found they could get stuff they "really" wanted instead of getting "everything" they wanted.

The economy is improving here, it's just been darn slow coming back.  The only positive out of the whole mess is that I hear a lot more folks talking about scrimping and saving now than I did two years ago.

Overall, Michigan is still in the dumps, bigtime.

It could be that since it's becoming clear that the the US dollar will have to be greatly devalued over time to pay for these huge deficits, and a value added tax may be added to everything that exists, that many people are subconsciously thinking it's time to buy stuff while the dollar is still worth what it is and they have the expendable cash before new taxes kick in? Just a thought.

Just thinking out loud, if they pass a value added tax before November, how will that impact "private" bowyers, since they tax each part of the manufacturing process? I've heard the tax, if passed could be as high as 10%. So would a new $600 custom bow now be $660?

The economys of the free world are never going to be what they were while our govnments continue to sell out the rights of their peoples.
The easist way to subjigate a people is to make them dependant on the state.
Wold govt's have done this to verious native peoples for centarys,,while all the natives are well under contol now,,,so who's next.
Home land security,UN charters, socalisim,,,,,any of that ring a bell??

I happen to work for the government and can tell you that I haven't seen any economic turn around!  I manage new development and can tell you it is dead.  Not a thing stirring and doesn't look to be any coming down the pike.  I am helping out other engineering divisions with work they don't have enough people and time to complete.

As for socialism, well lets just say we are headed there faster than many seem to think. Some of us ( read a lot of us ) swore an oath to uphold and protect the constitution and the people.  Our politician swore that same oath and seem to have forgotten it the second the swore it.  I didn't fight overseas to give someone else their freedom, to come home and lose mine to closet communists.

As far as the economy goes, try working for the"State of California". I am a retired State employee and got out at the right time. My son-in-law works for the State and has lost about 15% of his pay for quite a while now with no end in sight.Turn around? There is no recovery in this state. Prices are up for everything.

Heck you're in Alaska too, we haven't had a bad economy!  Well, I suppose maybe some of those who milk the tourist might have had a down turn.

Personally I am better off in the past couple years but I was riding on previous hard work with random good fortune times two (promotion and reduced mortgage) that just happened to coincide with the rest of the downturn.

Nice bows are like good beer, both make us feel good. I think we'll buy both 'til we're out of money.   :jumper:    :archer2:

Nothing makes a person more content than investing in what they love and truly believe in.
Is there any wonder as to why why we have so many members?
I've acquired a few new to me bows this year from the classified section. I can't justify ordering a new custom but can find an argument for solid investment for my wants and needs.
Find me a "true traditional archer" running for office and I'll swing them my vote.
At least I'm assured that their heart is in the right place.

Ragnorak Forge hit the nail on the head. Anyone who says or thinks otherwise has got their head in the sand, or somewhere, and haven't been looking at the big picture that's developing here. I really think it's wishfull thinking on some folks part that things are getting better.
Luvnlongbow said it too. People need to realize
exactly what's happening and take steps to get it stopped! Charlie

The US is headed in the wrong direction and the people listen to what the news feeds them too much. Have to look at what is really happening.

I just bought a bow this week. Made me feel good after a 20% "temporary" pay cut. I don't see things getting better.
