Title: loc on stand recommendation
Post by: BOHO on April 28, 2010, 12:56:00 AM
hey guys, I have some lone wolf steps but no loc on to go with them. I cant afford a loc on stand but I was wondering what loc on you guys recommend. I'd like one as light as possible but can hold up to around 250 lbs. thx for your help.

I use the Gorilla loc ons from wal mart. I use the chain type. They are cheap enough i use 3 or 4 and just carry my sticks

+1 for the Loc On Limit.

Chippewa Wedge-Loc is also light and SIMPLE to hang but more $

Loc On spirit is a great aluminum stand. A bigger platform than the limit and around 8 lbs.

I use two Loc-on Lems that I've had for 20 or more years. Last year I replaced the seats with the new, padded, flip up version.
There are a bit smaller than I prefer, but they are light and work great.
My all time favorite loc-on type stand is the Gametamer....pricey, but has a 360 degree swivel seat, big enuff platform to shoot sitting or standing, and strong enuff to hold almost anyone...rated @ 300lbs if I remember correctly.

I like the loc on spirit as well.Only drawback is its longer when folded together than other portable stands. Its a great stand though.

I used a Gorrilla Scout last year. Its all aluminum. Its well made.It attaches easily to the tree.i like the attachment system. Its about 8 pounds. Its not very expensive.Take a look at em.

i have used Gorilla stand for many years and love them, only draw back is after a couple years and moves on trees the support cables WILL definitly rust and brake so be carefull. i still use mine but takes a little bit to get use to the spring board affect!

I have found that doing it right the first time saves money.  Can't say how many stands I bought "on sale" while lusting for a Chipewa Wedgeloc.  They all dissapointed me and I ended up with the Wedgeloc anyway.

They are great and go up VERY easy.  Lone Wolf also makes some great stands.

Although it takes a bit of commitment and practice, after buying my Treesaddle I'll not bother hunting in a loc-on again. Just another option to look into.

If it were me, I'd save my money and get a lone wolf. It will last you forever. The leveling platform and seat is worth every penny and then some. It will go in just about ant tree, straight or crooked. Its lieght weight and packs well with the LW sticks!
