Where can I get a good deal on a therma-cell???
Can't take the bugs in the southern Adks?..lol!!
I just came back from Wal-Mart Got one for $23.00
Wal-Mart.
They are a deal everywhere. I would pay alot more knowing how good they work!!
Thermocell= greatest invention ever for the trad bowhunter.
i would get the holster that goes with it also. If walmart doesn't carry them, 3 rivers does!
I just picked one up at the local Cabelas. $19.99 includes a free holster. Question for you therma cell users. It says not to use in an enclosure. If I wanted to use for turkey season will it work to strap it to a tree somewhere near my blind? Thanks...Mike
Wal Mart, 3 Rivers, Cabelas. All good places to get the Therma Cell and it's holster and spare pads and fuel cells.
Agree with many of the above posts...ThermaCells are a great deal at any price. I have no idea how I used to hunt without one.
hey mooseman i used mine in blind just hung it by window seemed to work good.i just think they mean closed off area.
I got mine at Academy, I really like it too.
Mooseman,
I just got one this year for turkey hunting and had the same concern you have. I thought there would be enough air moving around in the blind that I would be alright so I fired it up and set on the ground toward the front of the blind under the windows that where open and it was fine inside the blind.

Thanks guys, can't wait to try it out...Mike
I just saw an ad yesterday for bass pro, $14.98, sale price
If you are close to the Bass Pro Shop in Auburn, keep an eye on thier sales flyers they often put thermacells on special. I have seen them s low as 17.99 in the Atlanta location.
Nothing at all wrong with trying to save a bit of money, but get caught out in the bush without one at the wrong time and you would gladly pay way more than the reasonable selling price for one. Like stated earlier--a bargain wherever you get them unless you love donating to the skeeter blood bank!
I used mine in the Yukon and was sold, there is only so much you can do up there but it definatly helped a ton. Back down here in the States the thing works amazing! I too would probably pay way more for it after I knew how it did!
I'd say buy 2!!
I have one of these but I also use mosquito repellant with DEET. Never had any mosquito issues and I hunt the swamps of the lower eastern shore of MD.
Suckers are amazing. My wife made me buy one :p She is a big magnet. Sit on the porch in the evening to chat, go inside and she has bug bites all over and I would never know there were any bugs around. Now I fire it up and put it under her porch chair and life is good. Did,nt know about the holster have to check into that.
as i sit here scratchin my skeeter bites, think il have to get one of those things... soon.
Yep Bass Pro usually has good deals on them.I have 2 of them.Don't leave home without them.I hunt pigs during the summer when mosquitos are the worst in short pants. They work great.
Found mine on that famous online auction place for a very good deal...might be worth doing a search on there.
In regards to the holster--it is not designed to wear the Thermacell around on you while moving about, at least that's what the product info that comes with it says. I use mine to strap it to a tree limb or the stand. Some guys do use it for mobile hunting but I have not tried it.
Where can you get cheap butane refilles? I've heard that Walmart sometimes carries them for non-electric hair dryers but I have not found them in Indiana.
The holster works great for walk around hunting. I put it on my belt in the back and it works great. If you wear a pack, strap it to the pack. I have used mine here on Guam and there are lots of skeeters in the jungle, never get bit, also used it in the swamps of Georgia and South Carolina and again, no worries about bugs. Well worth the money and more.
The Bass Pro 14.99 jobbers are a special product made for them as bait, or so I am told by Bass Pro staff. They are a smaller unit than the regular size Thermacell. They sell out quickly. Good to save money but the extra dollars are quickly forgotten when you click that button and the mosquitoes go away.
In Louisiana we have so many mosquitoes you would pay any price while out on the stand to get rid of them.
Do you find yourself buying refills at different times of the year to stock up and forget you have several already?
There is something about this product.
