Title: AD users "which one"
Post by: South MS Bowhunter on April 24, 2010, 05:53:00 PM
What AD shaft size to use for a 60" 53# @ 29" draw longbow? Looking for a shaft that can be used also with my recurve that is 60" 55# @30" draw.

I did a search for AD and read through a page of comments and it seems the AD shaft is very spine tolerant of different bows and poundage.

I'm wanting to be use a total of 250 to 270 up front and a total wt of around 550 to 600 grn's.

What's your experience?

I you want 550-600 grs. I would go with Trads,my black AD Trads with a 175 gr. point weigh right 565 grs. total. The woodgrain ones will add around another 30 grs. and the Hammerheads are alittle heavier.Go to Badger Arrows he has the weights listed for AD shafts.

How easy are they to tune?

Very easy! I second Badger Arrows as a good source for your arrows.

Are these shaft easy as in "they shoot where you look no matter what point wt" easy?  Or do they take more tuning!

Yes they are in my opinion,I have changed the point weight by 50 grs. and it still shot where the lighter points hit.Very forgiving and very easy to achieve a higher FOC.I have and shoot both the Trads and Trad Lite's,the Trad Lites I shoot with a 175 gr. point and they weigh right at 515 grs.

Would a trad lite work with a 100 grn inset and 150 grn BH total of 250 up front? Approximately 550 grns total I think.

I've got some trad lites that I seem to be able to shoot out of bows ranging from 41 to 55 pounds with about 250 grains up front. Mine are 2 fletch and they just fly well.

I shoot the trad lites with 265 up front out of 3 different bows. The arrows are 29.5"long and the bows are 53-55#'s. These arrows are very easy to tune.
