Gave the rest away to a few folks who are unable to get out and find them.
I miss hunting morels in the spring - as far as I know they don't grow this far south. Fry them puppies up in some butter....yum!
i am so jelous i haven't found any here yet
I got home with about 75 from my MO turkey hunt. Had deep-fried morels and turkey nuggets last night! Actually had enough to freeze some for later.
WOW great find!I have only found 10.
Bill
We found about 80 on Sunday. It is pretty dry here. This rain this weekend should help.
i looked last weekend here in south central pa. i think its a mite early yet here.
I haven't found any yet. Great find. I usually find a pound or two every year.
If anyone's finding them in NY already chime in!
found 15 small grey's in ohio so far.
Here in S-C-MN I have found about 2 doz greys. Went very well on the venison. Rain should have helped overnight.
Wow,what a haul.Seems like you guys in the mid-west find a lot compared to around here.Morel and turkey season are around the same time for a reason...they taste great together.
they are finding em here. I've just been too busy working to get out and look :banghead:
its to dry here , they just didnt come up like they ussually do. and i think its to late for the rain to help...
it was pretty dry here until yesterday. Not a real good year for them here either. Hoping after this rain we're getting a little sunshine and I might get one mor good mess so far this year I've only found about 6 or 7 pounds usually find that many in one trip if they are up good.
Seems like they come up good about every other year or every third year.

Super secret spot
Did you 'Miracle Grow' that thing Paul11?That's a Booner!
WOW...I should have went out today!
Paul I ain't found any like that this year but I usually do. That is definetly a booner LOL hoping after this rain we got the big ones will be up.
Charlie,
Been finding them everyday for almost a week now in the lower Hudson valley. Mostly greys, but have found a few smaller yellows. Found the first two half-frees yesterday during a lull in the rain. This rain should really kick them into high gear. According to my records, this year is the earliest that I've found them in any numbers by at least a week.
Hang in there.....they'll be out in before you can blink an eye.
Can't wait till classes are out and I can get home to NE Iowa to hit some of the secret spots, hopefully a few stragglers left.
Startin to pop up here.
I went today found 28 nice fresh greys 2 to 3 inches tall. Finaly rained here, found 5 greys 10 days ago but has been really dry until this weekend. The really dry weather has been hard on my carp shooting too.
Thanks Tony.
I did some looking in the Hudson valley yesterday. I went to a couple "hot spots" I have. No Luck although I have only ever found 2 greys there. I have found plenty of the white's though much later in the season. Some almost as large as a 2 liter bottle. I could show you pics but dont have photo bucket and would have to email them.
I agree afetr yesterday and today we should be in business.
Just found my first 50 today, they weren't big but oh so good!

 :banghead: cant find the darn things :( , I usually get lucky and find like a half dozen, lol. Prolly would help to know what a elm tree looks like without leaves :biglaugh:
I found my first bunch today. Much earlier than normal, but with the warm spring, I've been out looking quite a bit.
Get out there Charlie.... they're here.
I know Keith just have to retrain my eyes.
Maybe on Saturday while Turkey Hunting!
I found a few here today while turkey hunting, good thing because the turkeys sure weren't cooperating.
I think I am gonna get back out friday I was on vacation last week for turkey season and went back to work this week and ain't had the time to get out during the week.
The rain and sunshine here might have them bigguns up!
Had some rain here, Found my 1st three. 2 were HUGE!
Usually the first one is always the hardest to find. Not in this case. It practically hit me in the head :knothead:
Found about 3 gallons of em here in N. Idaho last weekend. Been very wet around here last three weeks. Looking to get out after them again tomorrow!
