Terry,

I mailed an order for two hush puppies and one bow hush earlier this week. I noticed the ship time on the order form. Is this an average or worse case time line?

I've used pure wool on an off ever since I got into bowhunting.

In NZ it was more or less the standard string silencer until compounds came along.

I have a question. I am considering bow hush for my recurve, but would like to know if you take it back off to wax your strings. I was always told to wax it at least every month, including loops and have always adhered to this and have never had a string failure in over 25 years. Can anyone tell me what their experience has been?  :archer:

Wax the string heavy at the points you'll be putting the silencers, unstring the bow, split the fibers equally at those points, put them in the opening, restring, cut off the rubber connectors from the end so each wool strand is "soft" or free from any of the rubber and are able to unravel easily. I think Terry says let them sit for a day or so but I shoot mine right away, just with a mouthful of wool fibers the first few shots. After a good bit of shooting, the fibers will unwind and completely puff out, to be trimmed as you like. On a flemish string, I've never found dental floss etc. needed to stabilize. They stay put just fine for me.

Crow, I wax mine heavy where the wool will be before I put them in. I wax my string a lot too and don't take them out, just work up to them and continue past them. Never had a string fail at the bowhush, nor any for not waxing either but I still do it anyway.

Thanks JC. I've always been the type that if something works I don't fix it. I don't know either if waxing that much helps but it ain't hurting anything!  :archer:

If your bow is well tuned you only need to instl a part of the Hush Puppy and can do several bows.
It works terrific.

Answer for LA Trapper. I ordered three sets of hush puppies a couple of weeks ago off the web page and paid with paypal. Got them 5 days later. I believe the order form says to allow for two week delivery, maybe a little longer if paying with a check. What it does not say is during the hunting season Terry might be a little behind. I've always tried to place my orders well in advance of needing them. Definitely before the early archery season. Service has always been excellent, as is the product.   :archer2:

Thanks Bill for the reply.

It looks like Bel007 and Broketooth had the same experience as you, around 5 days.

I mailed my order as I misplaced my pay pal login and such. I sent a postal money order so the check does not have to clear. I bought some quite a while back and liked the product.

It looks like we have been around this site for approximately the same time.  I don't post a lot, but I spend a lot of time on this site reading and following replies.
