What are some good 3 pc. longbows, fellas? I've got a hankering to try one. I like the riser to be cut to center. Good mass weight, performance is always nice, and looks don't hurt... What would you suggest? Oh yeah, it needs to be at least 64' longs... I just prefer that length... Feels good and stable... Thanks...
Steve don't be afraid of a leon stewart three piece slammer. He is a sponsor on this site and they are highly shootable and have all of the characeteristics that you want. No reservations.
Been wanting to try a 3pc. myself, seems like I see a lot 3 pc. pronghorns these days.
Elmer Patton, Crow Creek Bows, makes the Black Feather. I don't think you can go wrong there. Excellent bows!
David
ACS-CX from A&H. Great bows. H
The Firefly by Jim Jones is a great bow, and fits all the criteria you mentined.
Fireflys are tops in my opinion....

A+ right here! I've been shooting KentuckyTJ's CC Mag a bunch lately and WOW...this bow is a shooter!
I'm really, really liking my Vermilion River "Snake". I've only shot about 200 arrows through it but it has impressed me immensely. While not a "screamer", it has adequate speed, a smooth draw, and is quieter than any other bow I have shot.
As you can see, it has the visual appeal covered!

Just picked up a Kohannah Elite 3 pc 66" longbow. They also come in 64". I traded for this bow and it is a beaut. 50# @ 28" and it is the fastest 50# bow I ever shot. No hand shock, boo cores, and even new the price is not bad. Check out Kohannah's web site. I had heard good things about them and they were right, excellent bows!!!!! I was wanting to try a 3 pc longbow and I found a good one.....

3 pc Pronghorn.Light, fast,& as smooth to draw as a recurve. Plus Herb Meland is as good as it gets to deal w/ IMO..
I've got a kohannah elite and I like it pretty well. There are a lot of good longbows out there.

Horne's combo hunter @66" is sweet.
Hawk22, that looks almost like mine, like I said nice bows!!!
I'll second the combo hunter. Mine is 64" and fast, quiet and a good weight to it.
My current fav is the ACS CX-but my Schafer 3 pc arrives in July-who knows which will have won my heart by August?
I recommend getting demo bows and shooting as many as you can. Many bowyers will send you one if you ask.
Well if you contact the boys at ACS I have had one in the works for about 3 months.
its a 56" 12" riser - Just asked them if I could get my money back less my downpayment.
Should be a sweet bow....just going to stick with my new PCH that is on it's way now.
This is s NEW DESIGN LONGBOW and it should be everything it's HYPED up to be....just been waiting for so long and I won't be here when it;s delivered.
So rather than have it sitting here I thought the could sell it to someone that could put her through it's paces.
I will be on the road soon on my road trip (2 weeks) and I will just bring the PCH with me.
Phone 'em up..Jer
I think it would be hard to beat a Crow Creek Blackfeather. They are quick, quiet and have almost zero hand shock. They are nice to look at also.
Travis
Surprised that no one has mentioned Bob Morrison's Shawnee/Dakota or his Cheyenne with Dakota LB limbs. They don't come prettier than Bob's bows. His bow's performance has always been right at the top of almost everyone's [ those familiar with them ] performance list.
In my collection several 3 pc LB's have come and gone.... that is until I got my first Morrison 3 piece. :clapper: They are going nowhere in the forseable future. :jumper: :archer2:

I will second that although they are cut 3/16th past centre. I love mine.
bob lee with 19" riser???
they may have a bow that's suitable on their ready to ship list.
morrison shawnee , "b" riser with "e" limbs
Check out our new EPIC ILF riser. It is cut past center and teamed with our longbow limbs really smokes an arrow.
Mike

One of, if not.......the BEST out there. Elmer knows how to build a bow, and doesn't mess around (time wise) in getting it done.
Winterhawk1960
Whisperstik makes a kijakastik long bow that is a deadly weapon!! but you need to try as many different bows you can to find the one that fits like a glove(both by feel and the looks you like)

Here's the one I had JD lund make me last spring, I also gor the recurve limbs with it! These bows are fast, smooth and very quiet! Prices arn't to bad also!!
I'll put a word in for the Firefly and also for Tree's Custom Bow's Redwood TD Longbow.
Pastor Steve check out Big Jim's longbows he is a sponsor here and makes a fine bow cut to or past center very resonable too,i really like his twp pcs longbows good luck,Ralph
I have a Zipper that's great...can change the limbs out to make it a recurve...great workman ship and they shoot great.
Zipper SXT foam/carb,fantastic bow-supersmooth, very fast, forgiving.
There's lots of good ones. You can't go wrong with one of Elmer Pattons bows. I also have a Roy Hall Navajo Scout that I really like. Can't really say about all the others. Just shoot all the different ones you can before making up your mind.
I have shot most all the bows listed and a few more. If I had more $$ probably an ACS, but for the price I couldn't resist a Firefly. They are quiet, quick, stable...........and working with Jim is great!
I have three Morrison Shawnee longbows and they are sweet and gorgeous too!
There are a lot of good ones out there that's for sure. Below is a link to Hermanns Archery. I am having Fred build me a 64", 50# @ 29" 3pc. t/d in Bacote.

Good luck with your search.
Cari-Bow/Abe Penner makes an out standing 3 piece longbow. The silver Fox is exceptionally made in every way. I wouldn't trade or sell mine for anything.
Steve, call Horne and Great Plains about there 3 piece longbows and see where they can cut the riser out the way you want it. Get a 66" length if they agree. Both these bow designs have been around for years and are proven designs. I was at Vanderpool and was waiting on Mark Horne and his group of four to shoot across a canyon at about 55 yards and three of the shooter hit in the kill area using Hornes 3 piece longbows. Good luck! Ken
I'll cast my vote for the Fedora 'Xtreme' Stable, quiet and they spit flames :scared: IJ
I am a great fan of FEDORA XTREME hybrid LB:
This one is 64" AMO with 12 " waterfall bubinga and macassar ebony limbs.
Smoooooth
Faaaast
and a riser with a fabulous grip desing:

Morrison Shawnee with carbon foam limbs.
I would probably go with a Pronghorn or a Northern Mist Witbeck.
Eric
Pronghorn or RER LX. Really amazed they havent been mentioned more.
Bear's PAw BY Neil Jacobsen
How much is your budget? That's will fine tune the recommendations.
If the grip agree's with ya...ACS CX...They are an awesome shooting bow, I just didn't love the Std. grip, I would like to try one with the recurve grip.
Steve
I will try and get you the pictures of my Bears Paw Longbow 64in 48@30 cocobolo/bocote with eastern diamondback skins.
Less than 2 months old and is honestly the best looking bow i have ever seen.
Pastor Steve:
Look closely at the Rivers Edge LX...I've got a CLX (Compact Riser) and it is a great shooter.
Best of luck.

I second the Cari-bow Silver Fox. I don't own one but have shot one, it was smooth, fast and very easy on the eyes (Abe's bows are incredible). Check out the Cari-bow website if you haven't already, it is in the sponser list. Good luck with your quest.
My Crooked Stic 3-pc longbow.
60" #55@28". Great grip& a hard-hitter! (//%5Burl=http://imgur.com/7np8TVJ%5D%20%5Bimg%5Dhttp://i.imgur.com/7np8TVJ.jpg) [/IMG]
Out of all I have owned and shot the one I recommend without hesitation is Bigfoot Sasquatch. If there is a faster, better shooting or looking threepiece longbow made I do not know of it. Other than I am biased to Eaglewing. LOl
God bless, Steve
Don't know your budget, but there is a bowyer not far from me who makes a very nice bow at a very reasonable price ... Dry Ridge Archery. I had him make me a 62" longbow with a Cocobolo riser for that little extra mass. Love it! I posted pics of it on here a while back. I'd post another pic but I forget how ... AGAIN!
SASQUATCH!!!! :readit:
I don't think you can go wrong with a Bob Lee
I like my Pronghorn.
Of the many bows I've owned, my Pronghorns have been my favorites.
PasterSteveHill, I just received my new Pronghorn 3 piece longbow this evening. I got the 62" for shooting out of a tree stand. I love the bow. I'm shooting Grizzly Stiks out of it and it just screams. The bow is quite without string silencers, smooth draw and shoots right where I'm looking. I'll buy another one of these days. Yes, Herb is a super guy.
I really like my Crow Creek Black Feather. Great craftsmanship.
A 3 1/2 year old post dredged up, nice! BTW, love my Pronghorn, just wish it were longer!
