Well I got my first trad bird on opening day.
no great story really, I was sitting in my blind and had some birds come in that morning about 35 yds or so and no dice. I decided to move my setup midday and after I got settled in and did a little calling this ragged dude showed up.
He only had one tail feather and a messed up foot. His skin was all green and when I cut him open he was full of puss. I don't know what was wrong but I didn't eat it for sure.
21 lbs 21 mm spurs and a 8" thick beard

A trad harvest is always a great story.... congrats!!!!
Great job Chris!!

"His skin was green, and he was full of puss"
Chasing too many women...that was his problem.
You must have done some SWEET calling. He had gotten his share and didn`t need more.
Id be happy with a green skinned, puss filled bird after 0 and 5 on birds the last 4 years.

Izzy I'm with you...0 for 4 in two years.
Season starts May 3rd for a hopeful redemption!
Josh
Great job, but too bad you couldn't enjoy your bird further. Sounds like you won't have any problems being successful again.
Congrats. That an acomplishment you will never forget.
Congrats on your first. A really unforgettable first given the unusual condition of your trophy. Good shootin'.
My bow setup is a Striker Slapstik 56" 50# @ 28
Shooting a 70# spine tapered cedar with 60 grain adapters for screw in heads and 125 grain bullhead.
Done him in for sure.
Frank, Hows your season going? Good I hope.
And good luck to the rest of you guys.
Congrat's...........Nice thick beard

Hope to join you with a first (starting next week).
Congrats!
Also, I remember my first turkey... when I cut into the crawl, I thought something was wrong with the bird. He'd been eating young tender shoots of green.
I almost discarded the bird thinking something was wrong with him!
Again.. congrats!
Nice work! that bird sure messed with something...maybe a bigger tom! Congrats!
Well done!!! Only one week until May 1st goodness the wait is killing me! :clapper: :clapper:
Good looking bow for sure...
Got a pic of you with your face in it? I got your email and didn't know if you wanted me to use this pic or another one.
Let me know and I'll add it up.
T
Congrats
Great Job! I'm sure you really helped this Bird out in the long run!
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwllllllllllllll rightyyyyyyyy then
Congrats!!! He was just as tough to kill as a not messed up one.
My first bow killed turkey was also of the green skin/puss variety.
Had lead shot in him. I was quite happy to have him. Good job! Every bow kill is a trophy.
Great Job on a great looking bird!
Bill
I think I'll take the one tail feather and stick it a hat LOL
I was wondering if maybe he hadn't been shot but I didn't cut into him to much to find any lead shot.
Congratulations on the Turkey

Congrats! Hope to join you some day soon.
 :clapper:
Great job!
did you do a head shot? with the bullhead. good deal..
Yep! Head shot with the bullhead right in the lips!
Good going Kris, congrats on your first of many more trad turkeys. To bad about the condition he was in, but none of them are easy to hunt with our sticks and strings.
:archer: :clapper:
Congrats! You broke the ice.
That green puss was probably caused from getting spurred somewhere in the chest by another turkey. Pretty much between the skin and the meat. Probably was edible. Oh, well. Nice bird. Always tough to get a turkey with a bow. Congratgs.
