Can't wait till fall, looks like there is going to be some nice deer around. My lab Sage and I put on a lot of miles this spring with some good results. Here is a pic with us and our finds.

Wow that's quite the season! They look fairly bleached though, are they all from this year?
I don't know why they look so bleached in the pic. All but a few small ones are fresh and a couple of the big ones are very dark.
Travis
what a year, looks like a good up coming hunting season.
Wow one season! I'll be happy just to see that many bucks in my lifetime...Saw a post somewhere where this fella had his barn full from top to bottom and not a space to plant your feet anywhere...
Unbelievable good work. How many pairs of boots did you wear out?
Thats amazing... Well done.
I have been hunting in south Alabama for 30 yrs and in all those years i have found around 20 sheds.
This is just blowing my mind seeing all those sheds.
That is just absolutely incredible! I'm seeing probably 50 matched sets alone. And a heck of a pile of singles. And the vast majority are from bucks that look like they were more than 1 1/2 years old. I'm trying to do the math in my head about how many older bucks per square mile might be in an area, (3 or 4 at the most?) and how many miles you must have covered to find them all.
Simply incredible!
Did you keep any records of miles walked and time spent? Square miles covered?
WOW!!
That is amazing.
Does the dog help or just go along for the walk....really neat!
Very cool Travis!!!
Thanks guys, my dog found around a 1/3 of them on her own. Shes only a year and 1/2 old so I'm still working with her. She dug a small one out from under about 6 inches of snow. I walked on average about 10 miles each time out. It was mostly over the same gound though, the deer were really bunched up because of our bad winter.
Travis
I don't believe we have that many bucks in East Texas...All I can say is "WOW"
same here - WOW!!! Looks like a lot of symmetry among them; nice gene pool. Good luck chasing them.
Awesome.
how many matched pairs did u end up with?
Holy Cow Batman!
That is a lot of sheds.
laxbowman, There was around 50 sets and i think around 160 total. I weighed them and there was 150 pounds of antler.
Travis
makes me wonder what a nonresident tag costs LOL
That is amazing thanks for sharing the sheds. If I find two or three a spring I am happy. :archer:
Wow thats impressive
Wow, I miss SD. Lived there 1 yr in Rapid City area while in the Air Force before my trad days. Was at full draw but no shot on antelope, missed my first compound bow buck and stalked nice 9 pt droptine in bed in fresh snow but no shot, should've pulled the trigger on my first whitetail (doe), did take my first Mulie doe with .270, my first pheasants and sharp tailed grouse, first Merriams (shotgun)...Custer state park-critters galore-- bighorn, elk, deer, antelope, bobcat, bison...mountain goats on Mt Rushmore...(none of which i hunted- just loved looking) ...on and on. Man I miss it... good luck this season.
Super sonic!!!!!!!!
That is some collection and a tremendous amount of deer. Lot of boot leather.
Billy
Wow nice work
Wow that is amazing....
WOW,4pt.!Looks like you have too many good bucks running around that place and the herd needs to be thinned.I'd be happy to help. :D Nice haul!Have fun chasing all those boys this season.
Incredible! :notworthy:
That's an incredible find !
I think Non Resident tag are around $270.00 . I was gonna go there one year .I think that's a two year old price .
I was kidnapped and held hostage there for 16 years ,I guess that's why didn't go back fearful of the zorba ! LOL
Got a lot of memories of hunting some pretty big deer in SD. East and north of Huron SD. It was many many years back 76 to 85 .I remember seeing doe's that would make some bucks around here Look pretty small .Favorite spot over there was a stock damm (Water hole )Best memories in South Dakota were hunting with friends.
Carl
opening day: what time should i be there? lol!!! yr very blessed with deer.
Travis-
great job and what a season of shed hunting! pretty amazing considering I've never found a shed yet!! lol
That is amazing, congrats. :clapper:
Wow! Those are some nice finds!
Did you come across any winter kills in your part of the country while you are out wandering with your dog?
Are you spotting any of those with binoculars OR are you just out there poundin' the ground?
Shoot straight, Shinken
Shinken, I found some small ones and a few that had already lost their horns. It's not legal to pick up sculls in SD. I find some by glassing while walking around. It's open country where I live so glassing works good because its big country.
Travis
WOW! That is some serious shed hunting there bud
...yes I am jelous :D
Nice collection, us Michigan guys wouldnt know much about shed antlers. In some areas, 95% of all bucks are killed every year (based on DNR study of the thumb area). Ive found 3 sheds in 28yrs of walking the woods in Michigan. 8^(
