Title: Snakewood bows...
Post by: BowHuntingFool on April 21, 2010, 10:52:00 PM
Hey guys, got on a list for a new Big River Longbow and I'm trying to figure out a wood combo. I'm really liking Snakewood, thinking of doing the riser and limbs if possible. I was wondering what another accent wood looks good with snakewood....any ideas, thoughts, advice or pics if you got em', thanks

I think snakewood is beautiful, but it can be a very expensive piece of wood.

Go to blacktailbows.com, then click on snakebit bows.  Norm has about 10 or so there that he has made with snakewood and different wood combos.

This Blacktail is footed with Wenge. The burgundy coloring of the Wenge really looks great with coloring of the Snakewood.

That snakewood is some beautiful stuff but expensive and hard to find in pieces big enought for bows.  I looked last year for a bow I had on order and never did find a big enough piece.

I have been looking for a good piece big enough to have a riser made from for almost a year, where did you find yours?

Snag, I've been looking for a snakewood 1pc for I don't know how long...I'd take that poundage in a minute!

Wow, I had no idea about the availability of Snakewood, that's a bummer! Beautiful bow fellas, thanks for the help! Are limb veneers just as hard to come by as well??

I was going to go with leopardwood with the snakewood limb veneers. But Norm suggested the wider grain of the Lacewood...glad he did!

JC, I hear ya. Just don't see many one piece Blacktails, especially in Snakewood.
